THE Garda traffic superintendent who suddenly retired after his arrest on suspicion of drink driving will get a 'golden handshake' of over €138,000 and a pension of more than €46,000 for the rest of his life.

surely if you are convicted(which he hasn't been) you should get nothing, or at least a reduced pension.

or you could look at it from the perspective that if a player, (trevor brennan ex toulouse, leinster, ireland rugby is a good example) retired after doing something naughty he wouldnt be deserving of a testimonial?

Can't stop someone from getting his/her pension but the "golden handshake" is a disgrace.

Pension at half his final salary is very generous too & can't see too many private sector jobs paying that.

You wouldn't see too many public sector jobs paying it either!

2 of them were mine I noticed. One of them I don't care about, but the other, where I disagreed that it was similar to a testimonial, had no reason to be deleted, surely?

I think you'll be needing to look up the word "accident"... ;)
