Just had this thought last night
Would there be much interest in a MOvie forum in off topic similar to Music and gaming. as a bit of a movie buff I'd be quite interested in it and maybe even moderating it

I'd go for one, more of a movie fan these days than music so I'd find use for it

I'd be interested in one.

No need IMO. Travel was put in so that topics be kept together for reference. Gambling was put in rather than have them spread over various football/sports forums.

Not much movie stuff in off tpoic

Agreed there is not much movie stuff in Off Topic but if there was a Sub-Forum for it I reckon there would be a fair bit of interest. I rarely post on Movies on here because there is rarely threads to post on but any movie threads that do pop up are usually quite busy/interesting

IMO If you build it they will come

you could always start a thread...

I know I could but dont alway's have a good idea for a thread but often see a thread and think now why didn't I think of that. I'm sure plenty of people around here are the same

What Dodge said. We create new forums based on demand, so... create demand...

Ok so if I rustle up enough interest then you'll have a look at it
thats fair enough

If a thread takes off then it might be good alright but not really a whole on it yet though. What would be good is a movie debate thread and then a classics/"must watch" thread. Oscar nominated movies were a good guide line before but its just gone to pot in the last ten or so years. Its film festivals lately that throw up some good stuff.

Soon enough, there'll be demand for an off-topic sub-forum..

Adam, think about it, someday you'll be bigger than boards.ie. ;)

Go to the cinema minimum once a week and would definitely contribute.
On a mission to get through all Hitchcock films at the minute.
So I'd be interested aswell but thats probably not the point.
Don't see a problem with it just staying off topic as I could propose other types of forums aswell.
If we had a tv/movie forum that would be good alright.

Seems to be plenty of interest in the movie threads I've started and a couple popping up from other posters

as I said "If you build it they will come"

Yeah but are you going to start ten a week for the next 3 years (minimum)?

Whats wrong with off topic?

Havent checked, but are there gonna be 1560 threads in the music section, as your minimum criterion calls for?

Well I'd be in favour of getting rid of that too

It's not that simple BGR. We'll see how it goes after a month or two.

Is there enough demand now?

dahamsta

Are you seeing demand? I see one barely relevant thread in OT, and this thread being lifted by you after five months of inactivity.

To be honest, rather than sectioning the off topic threads even further I'd be more inclined to ask that the gaming and music threads be brought back under the one roof, the gaming one is dead in the water, and the music forum is probably doing the same as a seperate movies thread would

Well from the first page of OT I see five movie-related threads, if TV is included which I think it should be. There's been enough threads to warrant a sub-forum, compared to the others.

Gaming and Music are tipping away just fine, although I'd wonder would all of the above be better off in a single Entertainment forum.

Since when do Movies = TV? This is a new one on me.

Just looking in Off Topic there are a lot of Movie/T.V. related threads there now(currently 10 of the 19 threads on the first page of OT) so how's about a Movie/TV sub forum

Or as adam has suggested above an entertainment sub-forum

No worries. Keep it busy now, or it'll go the way of the Dublin City forum. :)

I didnt want to open a new thread on this, but I have a quick question - in the "Other Stuff" sub-forum (if that is what it is), have the various sections - Community, Current Affairs, Entertainment, Off-Topic - changed position?

I know that Entertainment is a new section, but I'm sure that "Off-Topic" was the first section, and "Current Affairs" was at the bottom?

Am I just wrong?

Ah!! Good, I was wondering if it was just in my head!

I've gone into "Community" by mistake about 5 times now!
