Celtic had a flag day at the recent old firm game. Included was a 'Justice for the 96' banner, supporting those who lost their lives at hillsborough. I think it would be a nice gesture to get this banner on loan for the match v Wales on Saturday. It would look well and would show solidarity for the 96. YNWA

The name of the celtic supporters group who owns the banner is the 'Jungle Bhoys'

It would make more sense to make our own surely rather than borrow theirs. We are Ireland and not Celtic.

Whilst I applaud the intention ( and the cause )....I don't think it would appropriate / relevant for Saturday's game

Yeah I agree with that.

Yeah good point, but I can't see Irish fans get around to making one etc, so might be handy to borrow this as a lot of Irish fans support Liverpool, Celtic or both

and a lot dispise them in equal measure - lets concentrate on our national team, thank you very much.

Surely we should be encouraging people not to support Celtic and Liverpool.

Yeah, I can't see any link between Saturdays game and that flag. I have nothing against the sentiment, but it has nothing to do with us.

Can't see what it has to do with Celtic either but it definitely has nothing to do with us or the occasion on Saturday and IMO cheapens the cause. Who would you be trying to influence, Mary McAleese:confused: Fran Gavin:confused:

Feck's sake - even if someone wanted to be controversial and put up a Justice for the 14 (Bloody Sunday) banner or something about Welsh coalminers that would at least have some connection to the event.

All well made points and to be honest I now don't see the point myself really in parading this flag. Not meant to be political just to show some solidarity.

However this comment by Thunder-WYFC is utter crap. Probably a manc

Wouldn't a big banner saying WALK DELANEY be a much better cause than this, at least we created it ourselves. And maybe something will happen (Maybe it will take a few years) if we do this.

Does anyone know if flags can even be hung as easily in croker as they were in Landsdowne? Theres a lot of advertising

The banner is fantastic but as a LFC fan who knew someone who died in Hillsborough and many who were present on that awful day, I would prefer if the banner was not displayed.

Please dont take this as an insult.

Also the justice campaign has nothing to do with attracting fans to Liverpool football club, like some people here seem to think, it is solely a campaign for justice for those innocent people who went to watch a football game and died in the Leppings Lane End of the ground! This could have happened to any club (including your club) given the state of the grounds in times gone by. Some of the people involved in the campaign no longer even attend games.

What has any of this got to do with the Ireland -v- Wales game?

why not have a banner saying something along the lines of :

"WE'RE NOT DUNDALK, WE'RE IRELAND, WALK DELANEY".

something with reference to the ridiculous comments he made to try and explain the sack delaney banner at the last couple of games

When asked a question on Rte sports by Des Cahill about the Delaney Out banner at the San Marino game, Delaney replied to the effect that that was a Dundalk thing.
Pity the interviewer was gullible dopey couldn't improvise a follow up Q even if you held a knife to his bálls Cahill.

Why not make a banner for the 39 Juventus fans that were murdered by Liverpool fans in Heysel

Jerry The Saint

To keep with the L'pool theme, the banner should say

YOU'LL NEVER WALK DELANEY

Reverse psychology. ;)

Why not make a banner for the 39 Juventus fans that were murdered by Liverpool fans in Heysel

cause it would be completely irrelevant to anything, much like your post

Nor is it true in fact, and an entirely inappropriate statement to be making on these open "Ireland Fans " forums!!. ......why are such statements being allowed by our normally astute Mods?

Th Liverpool fans in Heysel were every bit as culpable as the police at Hillsborough, no matter how many  faces you make it doesn't change that fact

It is like you said totally irrelevant but just thought I'd set you straight ;)

:mad:What's untrue about it? The Liverpool fans were running over to shake hands I suppose.

However, as said above, it has no more to do with Ireland v Wales than the daft idea at the start of the thread.
