Yeah, I agree. Certainly not an extra couple of hundred, which would be a 30-40% increase on the normal gate. Remember the Leinster jerseys?

Aren't you a bit young to be so cynical?
I saw a few Leinster jerseys, during the game in question, my guess would be around 30 . However about 10 were being worn by kids, whom I had seen in Belfield Park, on previous occasions so they were actually UCD's younger supporters.

I think this one is too ambitous in that we'll lose a bit too much off the gate and won't entice yield many extra heads in return. That said, I like to see a few risks being taken and some new ideas in an effort to get more through the gate. Hopefully there'll be at least some light advertising in our own locality to entice some of our own potential supporters.

If the Cork lot don't turn up with their match tickets those who go have to pay full whack don't they? I mean Cork have not traditionally brought a large support to Belfield. There MIGHT be a few more of them up for the Ireland match on the Saturday hence the idea has some merit. The fact that DOUBLE the normal number of punters for International matches can be accomodated on Saturday and the Croke Park Factor, from a novelty value viewpoint, may bring more supporters from the bog, means there could be a lot of merit indeed in this idea. I think an extra 150-200 , travelling fans, is not unreasonable under the circumstances.

Woops, skimmed that one too fast, didn't realise it was a discount for Ireland match ticket holders only. It's a better idea than I thought then.

The way I see it, with this offer, if the Cork based Ireland fans don't go we are no worse off. If they do there's a few extra tenners in the kitty

Saw on the Cork forum that UCD sent down flyers to the Cork City SC that would give them €5 discount.

Which were unfortunately late. Still, no harm.

The official attendance was in or around 750 which is 200 more than you estimated. Therefore my assertion that an extra couple of hundred would be attracted by the offer was not far off. The winner of the first set of tickets for the Wales game was a tourist from Germany who agreed to donate the children's tickets' to the Under 9's who played at half-time.

Most people used them too as given out in the Montrose.

Can't see how was going to boost attendances as no one going to travel just because they saving 5 euro. I suppose gate receipts don't matter to ye anyway.

Did see more foreign student types than normal though. Maybe they after the Ireland tickets? BTW what was the deal with that? Wasn't it suppose to be based on match ticket? I did not notice any number on them?

I witnessed the draw the numbers were on the back of the tickets.

Three winners between 4,600 and 4,800 and the other a yellow ticket was 1100 and something.
