I headed down to the Emirates Stadium last night for the first leg of the FA Youths Cup between Arsenal and Man Utd. It finished 1-0 to the Arsenal.
A massive crowd of 38,187 at the game (a record for the competition) - almost the same as at the Villa v Arsenal game in the Premier League. It was helped by an admission price of £5, or £3 in advance, and I think £1 for kids. It meant lots of kids there, who could not normally afford £40 for a Premier League game.
It was a smart move by the marketing dept though, as the food units ran out of food, and the merchandise shop did massive business as lots of Dads treated little Johnny. It just goes to show too the attraction of a new stadium and an appetite for live football at reasonable prices.
A few Irish and N Irish lads on the Man U squad too.
