Dermot Ahern is a Dundalk fan, though I wouldn't really call him a celebrity. Then of course there is Stan but I've only ever seen him at one Dundalk game.

Apologies for going off-topic but how come Fintan Cassidy never got his buddy Finian McGrath to bring up Shels in the Dail? Why is the Chair of the Sports Council trying to kill one of our leading clubs? Who owns the lease on Tolka? What if anything does the Government intend to do about Shels? etc etc.

Charlie O'Connor TD (one of many celeb Hoops) has done great work in the Dail for us simply by asking questions.

KOH

He asked a number of questions of the Minister for Finance, as to the equality where one eL club had their tax bill written off, while others were being pursued to pay up promptly.

Pushing it a bit now but actor Adrian Dunbar is seemingly a Waterford fan. He was supposed to be getting his mate Neil Morrissey to put a few bob into the club a few years ago but AFAIK nothing came of it.

Wasn't he the chairman for a while?

Coulter was President - an Honorary post. Current President is John Hume.

He has also taken a knighthood from a British Monarch, not much of an Irishman in my eyes, let alone a Limerick man.

Out of curiousity Krstic - if he acepted the 'Legion d'Honour' from the French, would that make him any less an Irish man.......?

No because even 800 years of eating Escargot would not be as bad as British Rule was :D

well known politican, radio personality (well... impersionated on radio) and patron of the arts Michael D. Higgins is a GUFC supporter
More than that! Michael D. is President of GUFC and recently did an hilarious routine with Gift Grub's Mario Rosenstock at a club fund raiser. You sure about that (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/sligoman/CIMG0629.jpg)?:D
Matty Verdon is also a well known diehard. In fairness, he's not "well known" outside of Sligo.

Isn't Ardal O'Hanlon a Shels fan?
No he's not. He's a Leeds fan, I think. If he were an eL fan, it'd be Monaghan United (his home county team). Unless his days in 'Rock have gotten to him...

Jimmy Magee lives in Kilmacud and is a regular at Belfield Park.

Damien Duff's agent is Pat Devlin, which probably explains why he's at so many Bray games. He was at UCD games on occasion to watch Robbie Doyle, one of his best mates from his time at Blackburn, and presumably watched him at Bohs, Bray, Pat's, etc.

Yeah,

He lives out Bray way

We love fans who organise fundraising ventures which cost the club money!

Coulter is just above Felix on the disliked list round the Brandywell.

He's Hoop though. Like Dermot Morgan who also attended Milltown on a regular basis and moved to Belfield for his live football fix.

Fintan - You should get someone to outline the basics of company law to you. Maybe Finian McGrath could ask the Minister of Finance to explain it to you. :D

This thread comes up like clock-workevery 6mths or so now, and always seems to descend to hear-say (no - not the banned) and the usual 'so-and-so was once seen at our ground or is from our town, so therefore must be a supporter of Team X....'

Besides - we all know there's only 2 types of famous football fans in the world anyway. Those who support Derry City, and those who wish they did...... :D

I'll ask Magee next time I'm talking to him so. Helping out at the KRAM stuff doesn't make you a hoop necessarily. CTID here had Morgan lined up for a regular programme piece shortly before he died, I think. Would have loved to see what he thought of the fanzine!

Dermot Morgan went to the Hoops in Milltown, before he went to UCD as a student. When we joined the League he was beginning his career as a comedian and he was involved in a lot of fund-raising and half-time entertainment activities. A few years after he died his family sponsored a UCD fixture, in his memory, it was a home game against Shamrock Rovers. Some of his friends from his time at UCD still occasionally attend games here. And he was going to do a column for the UCD programme in the 1998/99 season, had he lived. The format would have been a regular news letter from the London Branch of the UCD Supporter's Club, only with Dermot it would have been a whole lot more. :D He was planning on trying to sign up his celebrity friends over there to the Club . A pity he didn't long enough live to write one . :(

Damien Duff was in Tolka on Friday and supposedly was geting excited anytime Shels were on attack.

Duffer and Ryaner (Shels left full) are best mates from there time at Blackburn together. He used to come to the Carlisle aswell when Ryaner was with us.

Brad Pitt is a Pats fan - FACT!

He fell in love with the club while filming gritty 'RA film The Devil's Own in Inchicore (on TG4 at the moment but you've missed the gunfight on Emmet Road so there's not much point tuning in now). That Harrison Ford just can't catch a break, can he:confused:

James Connolly once took a wrong turn in Phibsboro and walked past Dalymount. He was therefore clearly a Bohs fan.

Michael Collins once hid in a hedge that later was redeveloped into Turner's Cross. That guarantees that he was a fan of a number of the Cork clubs, including Cork City.

Erik the Red was a viking. He was therefore self-evidently a Dublin City fan.

Yawn....
