Hello All,

I thought it was a Early April Fools Joke, but its actually being discussed!

From the BBC:
Football managers and chairmen have laughed off proposals to decide drawn Football League games with a penalty shoot-out.
League chairman Lord Mawhinney wants to introduce shoot-outs to allocate a bonus point at the end of a drawn game!

Any thoughts? One caller to five live said maybe one point each for a no score draw and 2 points each for a score draw might be the real route to attacking football. Now where did we hear that before??:)

It is a bad joke really.
The only outcome of penalty shootouts deciding matches is the negative teams who have little chance of winning becoming even more negative in the hope of fluking a win on penalties. Disaster.

As if by magic a lightbulb appears over Paul Doolin's head!

Ridiculous idea.

Would be amazed if this was passed.

useless idea. i would rather the idea of bonus points awarded for 3 goals or so than penalties at the end of games. both bad ideas but bonus points slightly better. leave well enough alone i reckon

I remember at one stage someone floated the idea of drawn league matches being decided on corners. Fortunately the idea was soon quashed as ridiculous. Nobody likes floaters anyway.
