The Sligo Rovers' supporters club has organised a football forum to take place on the 25th of July to discuss the future of Irish football.
The forum will be held in the Tower Hotel in Sligo at 8pm, and it will be attended by several personalities from the game.
Issues will be of local and national interest, and the topics discussed will include:
Is a semi-professional football league a viable proposition in this country?
How should the National League develop?
Is summer football the salvation or a disaster waiting to happen?
How do you finance a successful National League club?
Effective youth development and education programs - where do you start?
Are the general public interested in a senior team in Sligo?
Does the club give anything back to the community?
What part does junior soccer have to play in the equation?
Agents - heroes or villains ?
FAI youth development officer Eoin Hand will be in attendance, along with former Galway United boss John Herrick, Sligo Rovers chairman Micheal Leyden, referees' instructer Willie Bradley, and Noel Kennedy, secretary of the Connaught FA.
It is also hoped that a prominent businessman will give a talk on financing, while new Rovers boss Don O'Riordan could be in attendance. There will be a questions and answers session towards the end of the night, and there is no entry fee to the forum.
