Burton (http://www.burton.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=20553&storeId=12551&categoryId=63454&langId=-1&top=Y) are great for low cost suits that you don't need to worry about wearing.
You can find them in Jervis St., Blanchardstown & probably Liffey Valley too.

I'm with Paul on the 'whistle and flute'.

If you want to go retro (and not new) try www.rustyzipper.com
I got a 60's mod suit for about $50.

High street stores are always the best as they allow you to mix and match jacket and trouser sizes. Not everyone is in the exact propoortion that suits come in. In my case my guns are just too big.

If you can afford a tailored suit though go and get one.

Me too Cockney slang for a suit is Whistle & Flute, there was no such thing as a tin of fruit in original Rhyming slang.

As mentioned by someone else, Thailand is the place to go, 100% wool, suit with 2 pairs of trousers for <£100, 4 years ago & still going strong.

My one tip when suit buying is to get 2 pairs of trousers for 1 jacket, you wear the trousers out much much quicker, or maybe that's just me

Why not. Why cant the dubs i invent their own slang. Its hardly something that should only be reserved for London.

If I can interrupt paul_oshea sideshow, I'd like to point out that Topman (http://www.topman.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=17551&storeId=12555&categoryId=55966&parent_category_rn=38990&langId=-1&top=Y) also sell reasonable suits.

M & S, your only man for a decent yet very reasonable suit. If it's good enough for me and Bryan Ferry....

Paul O Shea - Why isn't Dublin slang as valid as Cockney?

Really depends what you want the suit for. If its a one off thing such as a wedding then the high street stores will do you just fine. They can be quite cheap and they do allow you to mix and match the jacket and trousers, which is great for the odd-shaped fellas amongst us.

If its for everyday work use then my advice is to splash out on something a bit more expensive. They will wear alot better, last you way longer and won't look like you dragged it through a ditch after every wear. Try Remus/Magee or Baumler in this category - cant go wrong with them.

Your man on the top floor in Best on O'Connell Street really knows what he is talking about, unlike most of the unhelpful bluffers in other places. diffneys are also good and you can't beat the personal touch provided by the smaller places.
