Foot.ie gained a valuable new member today with the birth of Maria Nagahashi (まりあ 長橋)in Yokosuka city today, to an Irish father, known here as Osarusan, and a Japanese mother, Akie.

Said father is basking in a glory of smug satisfaction mingled with extreme tiredness.

Not grapes!!!!! If the mother is feeding they will go straight through the baby. (Found this out the hard way)

Anyway, congrats. I hope both mother and baby are well. Is this your first? You'll know you're alive now!

Already checked.....(in case it was a boy, we didnt know).......any baby born anywhere in the world to an Irish citizen who was born in Ireland (I was) is automatically a citizen.

My confidence was such that the only hurdle I saw in the little'un becoming an international footballer was tricky citizenship rights, rather than ability. Oh well, next time it will be a boy. Although, my wife was mumbling something about "never again..."........

Thanks to all for their replies.

Congratulations Osarusan.
I became a Dad myself for the first time two months ago so I'm still in the thick of it.
Yourself and Akie are in for a treat!

Congratulations to the three of you. Limerick 37 are only about 45 days older than her, so that adds to the preciousness of the kid - first fan born after their creation, possibly!

Welcome to the world Maria. I became a Dad for the first time 15 months ago and all of a sudden, Galway United became less important to me.

Enjoy every moment and don't wish your daughter to grow up fast.
