Cobh Ramblers have decided to enter a team in the u21 league this season.

any chance we'll follow suit, or will they take some of our promising players off us?

The original reason Ramblers, Kilkenny & CCFC didn't enter the U21 League was financial, even though it is regionalised. Not sure that City have any immediate plans to go in, but I don't see why they shouldn't in the future.

"...or will they take some of our promising players off us?"

I like that one, Joe! :D
No, I can't see Ramblers' entry into the U21 League as a threat to the underage setup at City. Plenty of the youngsters are breaking through at the moment under Murph who seems very keen to give them a shot. Would playing U21 in front of 20 spectators be regarded as more attractive than a crack at City's first team?

probably not, but some of the lads must be thinking they don't have a crack at City's first team. we have a lot of players competing for some positions eg goalkeeper, centre-back.

Yeah, that's always a problem, Joe! But I think if any of our guys were to move to Ramblers it would be for 1st team action and not U21 fare.

I don't know. It can't be much for the 18/19 year olds to be going out week after week and getting kicked left, right and centre in the MSL just 'cos they're wearing a city jersey.

Maybe you're right, Joe! I dunno, I'll just have to ask them for the proggie to find out I guess...

I for one hope to make it to as many of the u21 games as possible - might even splash out on a season ticket for colman's park this year!

I have no problem admitting to being in St. Colman's Park on ocassions that City weren't playing there. It's not the worst place in the world to watch a football match!

Hide that scarf, Joe!

By entering an U-21 league City would have something to attract more younger players to the club. They would see that City have a youth aspect to the club. Look at how such things turned out at Leeds in England. By getting the kids in young and entering them in cups and leagues and keeping them at the club they have a very good line up of young players now. I think City should enter a team and see the bigger picture instead of the bank account balance...
