Narrow one this, but simple question all the same.

What's the most disappointing band name you've heard? And why?
Not the worst band; the worst name, the most misleading, most ill-advised, most ill-fitting or whatever.

Was listening to a couple of tunes from Bedouin Soundclash which got me thinking of this.
Not that the music is bad, it isn't. Just I was expecting another Asian Dub Foundation, or maybe something along the lines of Transglobal Underground, not semi-acoustic sing-alonga-tunes. Thought the name just did not fit.

Experimental Pop Band, for some reason I was expecting another Japanese tinged British guitar pop band, along the lines of Bis or Dweeb, but they were just a pretty poor indie band. Disappointing to say the least as I do love myJapanese tinged British guitar pop bands  ;)

Gay Bykers on Acid

how dissappointing to discover that they were rarely all three at the same time.

Big Tom is big and he is Tom....now the Mainliners...they must have been on drugs to play that music!

Urban Legend:While they were relatively unknown they went to the USA to do a gig and loads of "stoners" showed up expecting a heavily drug influenced band but they got Big Tom & the boys.

Ha ha...brill! My mum was in hospital 2 weeks ago & we were up visiting her one evening and Big Tom was in visiting a lady in the bed across from her. We tried to get my son to go ask for his autograph for the craic but he wouldnt!

I remember one from a long time ago about them being stopped by customs on the way into the US, on account of their name, and searched for drugs. Rather personally! :D

I don't know.
Stereolab, Stereo Total. They work for me.

U2 is good in a visual 'brand' sense. But that's about it.

Always thought Metallica a very corny name.

Likewise The Who.

Likewise The Wedding Present.

Only bothering with bands I like.

Fully agree with sentiments about bands with audio, radio, stereo etc...

Anybody in any band whose moniker substituted K's and Z's for C's and S's should be stabbed to death.

OutKast's name was originally spelt Outcast as a Southern rap group were a rarit at the time but the record company, Arista Records, changed it to OutKast for more "street cred".

Pity, cos they're a great group.

The Pixies - they were anything but, 'specially Charles.....
And Sonic Youth - they were all pushing 30 when the band started, hitting their 50s now; how must their kids feel? (I guess the same applied to the Beach Boys, come to think of it)

What about A Skillz and Krafty Kuts? Greatest hip hop and breakbeat dj / producer combo duo since whoever the last two were.

No worries I'll overfly their house if they daub some lambs blood on the doorposts. Sure they'll probably machine gun each other for kicks at any rate.

Truthfully I wasn't considering rap/hap-hop/r'n'b acts at all (the latter should be fed live to starved animals regardless of what they call themselves)

I'm thinking more of pub-rock bands who like to spell things like blues "blooze" as well as people of australasian extraction like Split Enz.
