There were a lot of rumours around the last few days that he would quit..he doesnt have a contract[fact] and the budget wasnt exactly satisfactory for him.

Is this the 1st time a manager has quit before managing a league game?
I was hoping he'd stay till Friday so we could embarass him and Sligo!:p

whatever...
anyway just when i think we couldnt get any more screwed this happens.
Why would anyone in Sligo go watch a team with a ground looks more like the car park on Connaughton Road than a football stadium, where the board wont even give the manager a contract, also we have 1 striker on our books....no assistant manager...no floodlights..a pitch that looks like my back garden.[i dont cut the lawn].general incompetence everywhere you look. a joke of a football club at the moment.
Sad to hear WR, but surely there must be some good news around the corner?

Well ya we are playing Galway Friday. And we hopefully are travelling in large numbers with low expectations and a hell of an atmosphere:p

Supporting your club on the road against your neighbours will easily make you forget about the current climate at the Showgrounds.
Then again after we beat ye the 2hour drive might be a very long one!;)

supporters should call for an EGM and ask what the hell is going on, Im sure there is plenty of questions that needed to be answered and quickly.

If you dont beat us on Friday then you could be waiting another few years to do so, as i am sure we will have a manager next time we play.;)

New floodlights were to be installed at the showgrounds so the old floodlights were taken down in preparation but still no sign of new floodlights so showgrounds cannot be used for evening matches

That's a disaster. You would have thought they would have waited until the new lights were ready for certainty. When are you likely to have the new lights. Are you playing on Saturday afernoons or Sunday's in the meantime ?

Its anyones guess! They should have been here weeks ago. Meanwhile all home games are to be played on sunday afternoons. Goin back 2 sat evenings wen the new floodlights arrive but god only knows wen that is!

true, we thought shels, shams etc were bad...
but at least we are not millions in debt... but with the board having a bad rep its going to be hard to get a manager of any calibre in

Could be worse than that for Sligo fans, I heard Don O'Riordan's name mentioned!!

Assuming you mean Rovers, you're right. Our club really is in a mess and the sooner we get the board out the better
Apparently all the work on demolition of stands etc etc had to take place prior to the FAI releasing grant aid. But then again would ya believe anything they tell ya?

I wouldn`t get too depressed, we waited for over 5 months for a pitch to arrive in 2005 !!

Fantastic news for anyone playing Sligo should be a easy 3 points. Unfortunitly Pats have to wait till 21/04/07 to play them. Total mess you along with Longford are my tip to go down but adleast Longford have a manager. Be Glad to see the back of you. You broke my Heart.

I wouldnt say that at all , out of adversity comes strength , I still think we have a decent squad especially in midfield where we are very strong imo.

He was shaping up to be a disaster to probably good that he has gone and we have got a full season to recover, he f88ked up by announcing he was implementing a full time set up before doing a full review of current situation thus losing most of the talented local players immediatly, he then failed to follow up on his great contacts by bringing in any notable signings and has left us with an imbalanced squad with serious problems up front (1 tempermental african striker) and centreback(2 at club of which the yank is not supposed be up to premier standard).

that person was Martin Lawlor. Just just two days before the start of the 2002/03 season, we sacked him . The only good thing about his appointment was he brought Alan Matthews and Aarron Callaghan to the club. He managed us from Dec 01( when Kenny left) to Aug 02. in fairness to him he kept us up in the relegation playoff against finn harps!
