The going is shaping up like easy ground so I think I'll back Celestial Wave in the World Hurdle.

I've already backed In Compliance for the Gold Cup but its a doubtful runner:(

Depends on the ground 12th man so I'll hold off on any predictions for another week. As long as it's not heavy then Black Jack Ketchum would take all the beating in the World Hurdle though IMO.

Denman has to be favoured in the Sun Alliance and Kauto Star obviously if he can stay on his feet but a lot can happen weather wise yet.

Probably wise to wait alright but difficult not to speculate. The markets will turn on their heads if it stays soft.

Just the one. Kasbah Bliss at 29s for the World Hurdle, 16s the lay on betfair now but the stake doesn't make it worthwhile, will let it ride.

Can't wait now, building up nicely. Not had a good a flick at the form as yet, but my first insight into the fetival is that the ground won't be better than good to soft if even. So that includes a lot more of the horses that weren't going to the festival if it was on better ground. I think Celestial Wave is a very good bet for the World Hurdle. Black Jack Ketchum will be saved for Aintree if the ground is soft or worse. Celestial Wave will relish the conditions and her front running style will suit Cheletenham as she can dictate the pace. She doesn't give up easily as she showed in her last race at Gowran Park and at 12/1 is a nice e-w bet. I've it backed.

Also had a very good word on Gemini Lucy in the Arkle. In at 16/1 at some, from 33/1 about two weeks ago. A guy from Newmarket I know won't shut up about him. Maybe worth an e/w punt in what looks an open affair.

That's all so far, seeing Ruby and Nicholls tonight in one of those preview things, might turn up one or two things, but not holding my breath.

Is that the one in the Sub? From what I hear it's one of the better ones as far as these things go.

Not the Sub, Cork venue tonight. Prob hitting the rest of the country this week with no racing at all going on. Ground is going to be terrible if this persists.

Celestial Wave is now out of the World Hurdle – would have fancied it big time .

Beef or Salmon at 18/1 on soft ground for the Gold cup is not bad odds – neither is L’Ami at 16/1

It's a pity as she was looking like a great chance on the ground.

I wouldnt exactly be backing my festival fancies but for what its worth.....

In the Arkle i like Faasel at about 16/1 - he is 20/1 in places and represents great value - he is proven at cheltenham and while he only ran once over fences he did nothing to suggest that he wont handle the jumps – all of his good performances have come in the springtime. He is a bit of class and seems to have slipped completely under the radar.

The champion hurdle is not really a great race to back but I have a sneaky feeling Asian Maze at 14/1 has the best chance of getting in amongst the big 3. Another who runs well in the spring and should like the ground as well.

And in the sporting index chase I can’t help but having a few quid on Spot the Difference – getting old but in great form and bound to give you a run for your money at least.

2.35 Faasel 16/1 - €5 e/w
3.15 Asian Maze 14/1 €5 e/w
16.40 Spot the Difference 7/2 €10 win

Last of the big spenders! :)

Definately doing Detroit City and My Way De Solzen. Probably doing Granit Jack with De Valira e/w.

Gaspara at 5.20 is well fancied and I might do another few elsewhere depending on how I get on with the early races.

3.15 Hardy Eustace

2:00 bets; De Valira to place, and small bets on Kalderon and Orbit o'Gold, also in the place market. Amaretto Rose not the strongest of favs.

Well bloody Granit Jack, out in front until the last jump overtaken by a 40/1 outsider!

Great day for the bookies so far. Solzen has me evens. Nothing else until Gaspara in the last with Jayo e/w.

I can only get the text commentary at work. What was the story with Detroit City if anybody saw it? Poor run or genuine excuses?

gilberto_eire
13/03/2007, 5:44 PM
i dont know passing the post after a furlong he was starting to get to work on him then down the back straight was hard at work died away coming down the hill was backed down to 7/4 before the off the bookies cleaned up off him, hardy was been niggled at down the back too and it looked like inca would win but when called on couldnt even shake off hardy

A good day for the bookies! Luckily for me I was working in 1 (on double pay) and not punting - bar a smallish bet on Hardy Eustace - because I wouldn't have had 1 winner.....

Have backed Kill Devil Hill in the Gold Cup but only to have an interest really, horses aren't my game!

Rory H
14/03/2007, 8:40 AM
made a profit of 22euro..not bad considering the outsiders 3 races
big favourites in many races today...

bennocelt
14/03/2007, 8:46 AM
i had 2 winners and 2 seconds, oh if only Juveigneur got that win
up 97 punds, which is even surprising to myself
detroit city ran an awful race, dont know what Johnson was doing on him, the two carberry's rode very well

Going for an e/w on Finger on the pulse. 20/1 good form but never ran that course and only once at that distance. Paddy Power are paying 5 places on that one.

Still a little unsure of what I'm going to do yet. Thinking of a Lucky 15 on Aran Concerto, Denman, Well Chief and Aranleigh. All favourites I know but I fance Ruby Walsh and McCoy to get off the mark today with one or 2 winners each.

Might do e/w bets on Silverburn, Cailin Alainn, Mr Hight and Cork All Star....tbc
