For example, a treble involving a non runner becomes a double - to the same stake - on the remaining two selections.

That happened to me on Paddy Power before when a game in my treble was cancelled.

Derry are stronger than last season minus Forde. And should be among the favourites to win the League. With Shels out of the Premier picture, it opens up a chance to look at some newer faces, Cork and Drogheda will be in the top 5 but someone like Bohs , Pats or even Rovers could get in there too.

While i need not rate Forde as much as others Jennings & Delaney are inadequate replacements.

Bennet is the only player that will be really missed while the Cork City squad is stronger in all positions.

ADVICE I GOT IS THAT IT STANDS

you'd win an appeal if they did pull fast one

The only rule CORALS have for antepost football is:

League Winners
For the settlement of Ante-post bets, final League placings count.

Also their rules for non-runners are as follows:

) Non runners

sports betting rules

In the event that a selection for an event does not participate, or if an event is cancelled, then bets on these will be considered non runners.

Excepting bets placed under ante-post conditions, a single bet on a non runner will be made void and the whole stake refunded. Where a non runner is part of a multiple bet the whole bet will not be made void, but only the parts of the bet relating to that selection. For example, a treble involving a non runner becomes a double - to the same stake - on the remaining two selections.

They don't have a leg to stand on. I'll be straight on to IBAS if they try and void the bet because of their incompetence.

I asked Ladbrokes and they said that all bets will be settled as losers regardless of who wins the league because Shels would've won it anyway. :p

It will save them come the end of the season though as last year they weren't too keen on settling Shels as a winner the day after they won the league!

Maybe they pay out on the Moral winner?

I've actually checked with Ladbrokes and all bets on shels void, all other bets stand with no rule 4, same as setanta cup

Fair play to Ladbrokes, it was good to see they had 1st goalscorer prices up for the Setanta Cup games last night - but bizarrely not for the live game!

Keep up the good work centre mid! ;)

Saw some bookie had odds on Kingsberry to get the first goal for Linfield last night! :D

Did you not check the Racing Post JC?

The Racing Post is a joke.

Their Irish tipster just looked at last season's results and decided to tip every eL team to win last night.

Did Ladbrokes have their goalscorer odds in it?!

I checked with Paddy Power and Corals (where I have Drogs at 5/1) to see what they would do if Shels did not start the premier. Powers said all bets would stand regardless.
Corals said all best void, form a new market. I'm not sure they can do it. Rule 4 should apply which potential winnings reduced. But Shels have been replaced by another team, its not an 11 horse race now, its still twelve.

Bet still standing but they are still taking odds on Shels for the premier

Coral made a huge error on Bohs a few weeks ago having them at 16-1, I'm sure loads got on, so a new market would suit them.

Talking about mispricing, nothing beats Ladbrokes handicap League bet two seasons ago when Derry were 8-1 at +25 points (or was it plus 33?).

There are still people in Derry living off the winnings!

Not forgetting of course, the famous 11/2 to beat Gretna...

I lay his selections every week..

I never thought of doing that - how many points profit were you in for last season? I'd say he must burn 2 pts a week. Mind you he's probably one of the better performing tipsters for the RP!

What are the odds on the use of an asterisk not being necessary at the bottom of the league table this year? Or in any one of the next ten years? When was the last time there WASN'T a points deduction in either division? Even apart from the Shels situation, it's a banker that there'll be a few deductions for unregistered players or maybe even a club or two collapsing mid-season again.

It will be a sign that the league is finally on track the first year that there are no asterisks required.

(By the way, if anyone gets a POTM nomination for references to Asterix the Gaul/Obelix, etc, I'm claiming the assist!!)

Never in doubt.:o
