Fact is referring to any foreign club as "we" is embarrassing and pathetic and could only happen in Ireland.

Do you refer to the english national team as "we"?

It's just 'fact is', supposedly. I don't support England, so why would I ever call them 'we'? I don't support Ireland, so don't call them 'we' either. I do however support Rovers, Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern etc and call them all we. It is really that simple. If I did support them, I would refer them as we too.

Owlsfan, the fans and players of a club are theoretically one. When the beloved Wednesday lose it affects you and all other supporters and players. You are part of that group feeling the same. You belong to that group irrespective of geography or nationality of anyone in that group....'we' describes that. Why should your support differ from Ireland or Rovers to Wednesday - other than based on pathetic geographical prejudice? That's GAA-like parochialism
