Hi everyone. Last night was slightly surreal. It started out as a slagging off exercise and blame being apportioned in all directions. When the people doing this got fed up and left the meeting, it became a completley different thing. Many ideas re leases, money available from FAI etc. It seems that firstly we need a long term lease somewhere to get the ball rolling...pref anywhere but the"Jacks"

The Committee seem interested in getting help and said straight out that they cant manage things for the future. So it loks like input is now invited from the fans in order to get 2004 licenses

All in all 3 good hours and a chance for the Fans to meet up

John

Haven't time to go into detail now but just to echo John's sentiment that last night was a very worthwhile exercise, especially when the bitter few at the back got tired and went home as one to grumble and people actually started looking forward to the future. That said, it's important to make sure that it'snot a one-off. Fair play to Darren Bernstein as well, seems a very good guy. I was a little critical of him in the past but turned right around on meeting him last night!

Couldn't make it last night.what is the attitude of the board towards Jackman.where do the board want to see us playing 'ideally' if they had a choice of all the venues we are linked with. anything about the floodlights in rathbane and a possible move back there? sorry for all the questions

It seems to me that the Board have just been plodding along on a week to week basis. The whole Ground thing was raised from the floor rather than from the top table. They did say some discussions had been started but that it was hush hush. options raised were Thomand Park, Merger with a Junior side ....Fairview or Pike maybe, Ul Arena.
As regards Rathbane from What was said at tthe meeting We do not own it.It was a private deal among individuals who gave now left the club..Fr. Young. The Floodlights will cost more to move than put up again so it is prob not a runner.

... while they're playing their cards close to their chest at present, the board are clearly pro-Jackman. They haven't commited to anything yet for next year but given that they don't seem to have explored any other options it's looking likely that Jackman is going to become the home of Limerick soccer... Rathbane looks dead (much to the chagrin of some of the older, ruder heads who were there) and while getting the lights back was mentioned it wasn't really explored as an option the other night. It'll probaby come up again at the meeting next month.
