How many foreign players (eg not British or Irish) actually play in the league at the minute?

Not many.

Off the top of my head UCD, Drogheda, Bohs, $hel$ (technically Nesovic) and Cork don't have anyone that I know of.

Mbabazi plays for Pat's, Wes Charles for Bray, Avery John for Longford.

I'm not sure about Derry or the Scum, but I don't think so.

...would have been another. Waterford have a couple I think, and even Limerick have a nigerian lad who has only ever made our bench and is reputed to be absolutely crap!!!

Not making a political point here, but if a french player, for instance, is deemed to be "foreign", how come someone from England, Scotland or Wales isn't?
If it's the National league of Ireland, wouldn't anybody from outside the island of Ireland be "foreign" ?

Will we just ask Sligo fans for a list of Irish players? It would be much shorter. In fairness they've changed in the last two or three years and their local policy is not only a great idea for drawing in support but also makes economic sense too.

O'Dowd, irish
Carr, english
Watson, bajan
Miller bajan,
Mc Tiernan, irish

Notable absentees include Aubrey Dolan . Sean Flannery , Ian Rossiter and Johnny Jordan. All young and Irish

and thats the game with the most foreigners we have had this season!
of all those irish guys mentioned all are from sligo or the surrounding counties .

our mid 90s reputation of bringing in journeymen english and scottish guys was deserved but i believe we have moved from that now and are well on the way to building a highly successful
young team

From the previous postings that makes Kildare County and Athlone Town as the only clubs in Ireland that have purely Irish players.
