Paul Hopkins & Darragh Ryan trained with the Cork City FC squad today.
Neil Mellor told a reporter that he had been in touch with the club.
Rico denied this but may follow it up.
Falkirk reckon they've also made a good offer to Healy.
Dave Warren still linked with making a return to City.
Paul Devlin linked with a move to Leeside.

Farrelly brought Devlin to Bohs last year.

Looks like Rico getting a bit desparate IMO

Yes, according to this... (http://www.eecho.ie/pdf/back.pdf)

Rico desperate?
You lot tried to sign Greg O'Halloran and then your manager goes crying to the press when Greg signs for Derry. How desperate can you get!

Journo asks him a question and he answered it (Pats offering Ryan Guy a contract was the main bit of news...) I like O'Halloran. Think he'd do a job at most clubs.

But if you're happy Cork are trying to sign a 34 year old striker, fine

Mellor's been injured for ages. Piece on Sky Sports news a couple of weeks ago on him

There was a time when your club had ambition!

I'm ignoring you now because I'm beginning to pity you and I don't want to well up in the office.

He wouldn't be a starter when you're in 5 competitions you need a big squad :D

Devlin would be backup forward too & probably 4th place at that.

City squad coming together nicely now with some options in most areas although some defenders still required.

Well he was on huge money at Bohs. Doubt you'd pay that for a forth choice striker. He's miles btter than Behan anyway...

Mellor would be a good signing if it happened. Yet again shows how far the league is going.

In fairness, that sounds ridiculous.
Looks like someone is lying.
Hopefully its Rico and its already a done deal.

I can't see how any manager would try to contact a player after he heard he was supposed to be talking to him in the paper. Rico rarely comments on transfer speculation until talks started at the very least...

Let's wait and see if anything actually happens before saying how great it is for the league, shall we?

Also remember Shels' European exploits supposedly showed us how far the league was going as well.

I mean the whole situation where moderately good British based players can be linked with Irish clubs without people laughing, the same with domestic players moving to British clubs.

Clubs have built on the European progress by Shels, but the important factor is they have done it more affordably,

Reading the coverage of Neil Mellor, i reckon its all down to an off the cuff remark made by Rico in denying it. Nothing in it at all i reckon.

Taken from the City forum. Points made by Rico on local radio.

Rico won't be signing Paul Hopkins, says he wasn't good enough for Cork City
At the moment Rico wants ability, not potential
Flynny close to full fitness
Needs cover up front
Speaking to Neal Horgan today
Hopes to have 1, mabe 2 more signings before the end of the week.

Most definitely .... Complete crap, and the reasoning behind it is questionable.
