in terms of talent - Tony Sheridan.

In terms of realised ability - Coyle or Peter Hutton

I think I would put Coyle in the talent category as he never realised his true potential due to his knee injury though.

Throughout the last ten years or at any stage over the last 10 years? Think these are much fairer when people don't vote for players who've played for their own club.
In which case i'd go for Heary throughout the past ten years or Jason Gavin who's been the player to impress me most.

In terms of other teams then, for me Heary by a mile. Suprised about the praise for Hutton, a solid player with a good reading of the game, but never thought he was highly regarded outside of Derry.

Without a doubt Pat McCourt talent wise!
Realising his potential is a different story...

Talent wise McCourt, magical when in free flow, sublime skill ... Molloy, Sheridan etc were not even close ...
For consistency hard to look beyond Hutton though Heary is close ...

I don't understand the facination with Liam Coyle.

I judge best players on those who you hated seeing appear for the opposition.

Best players - Osam, Heary, Crowe (for few years of his prime at Bohs), Stuey Byrne, Livingstone, John O'Flynn (short lived prime before injury)

For us - Ozo, Eddie, Charlie in that order

For anyone else - too close to call between Kevin Hunt as he was a few years ago and Joe Gamble as he is now

Might as well do the full list

For Pats - Gormley, Osam, McDonnell

For others - Stephen Geoghegan, Liam Coyle, Dave Barry

Gamble is nowhere near that level. Of current players Ndo is the most skillful and Heary and Stuey byrne the most consistently good

Liam Coyle.

For another team, Kevin Hunt.

For the league: Liam Coyle, no question. Would have said Davy Barry if you'd gone back another 5 or 10 years.

For us: Gary Dempsey. Daryl Murphy second.

In terms of opposition players, Stuey Byrne.

For Harps id say Tom Mohan, Johnny Speak or Fergal Harkin

overall the best player ive seen come to Finn Park was George O'Callaghan.:) it might change though as i think of it more.

He only had one good season:confused:

So did Dempsey, sure.
The question is not who was the best player over the course of ten years, it was who was the best player within the last ten years. Ability over longevity.
I think Dempsey and Murphy were the two best I've seen at Waterford in that time, even if it was only briefly.
