Free Family Fun for all Coming to a Club Near You
Date: Tuesday, 13 February 2007
Section: eircom League
Eircom League of Ireland clubs around the country will be opening their doors to fans and families for an action packed day of fun and activities for all. The free family fun open days will be held at a series of eircom League of Ireland clubs giving fans a unique opportunity to meet and compete against some of your favourite players in various exciting activities. Show off your fabulous football skills in a penalty shoot competition against your heroes and let your fancy footwork lead you to piles of merchandise and spot prizes throughout the day. Look out for many surprises and enjoy the refreshments. The players will meet all of their fans for autographs and photos.

This unique opportunity is run in conjunction with the FAI National Club Promotions department which is headed up by ex-Cork City, Limerick and Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper Noel Mooney.

This is the beginning of a range of initiatives to highlight the positive family atmosphere at our eircom League of Ireland clubs.

Speaking at the announcement, Noel Mooney said, “Having worked closely with the clubs on this wonderful project, I am thrilled with the professional approach our clubs are showing towards promoting themselves in the community.”

He added, “The Club Promotions Officer programme is all about making the football club the all-embracing focal point of the community and it signals a turning tide in Irish professional soccer.”

“When you add the Club Promotions Officer programme to a unique marketing campaign, the appointment of our new eircom league of Ireland Director, Fran Gavin, the appointment of an internal compliance officer to audit the clubs accounts, this truly is a brave new world we are entering with Irish soccer,” he added.

To enjoy this un-missable day out for all the family at your eircom league of Ireland club see www.fai.ie for the latest information on all the eircom League of Ireland open days.

What are clubs doing for this? Is anyone doing anything out of the ordinary?

Not sure Pats have planned but they've been working on it for a while. Been a bit unlucky with the weather. No point having bouncy castles and penalty competitions in the ****ings of rain...

I know Rovers are away to Finn Harps in a friendly the day our "fun day" is on. Don't know how many of the main squad will be there for it...unless it's on early that day.

Bohemian FC is hosting an Open Day - The Bohs Blitz - on Saturday 3rd March from 1pm until 3pm.
Over 60 local schools, football clubs and community groups will be invited but it really is an "Open Day" for all of the Bohemian community.
Sean Connor, all the first team, U/21's and coaching staff will be there to meet with everybody.
We'll have two 7-a-side pitches set up where coaching for kids will take place, but also penalty competitions and The Crossbar Challenge for both adults and kids.
There will be music, face-painting, club tours and a Bohs History slide-show, The Bohs Babes, Balloons, Goody-Bags, a Bohs Flag and colour display, an exhibition area, merchandise for sale, food and drink and fun for all.
To make this a success, we need helpers and volunteers. If you've got a Bohs flag, bring it along. If you can help out with erecting the goals and organising the competitions please contact us. If you've got any ideas, suggestions or would like to participate, get in touch.
All Premier League clubs are having a similar day but we want to make the Bohs one the biggest and best; after all, we are The Big Club!

Well we are planning various promotional things around the town, Eg. Players signing posters, flyers handed out, kids stuff, a boat going up and down the river spouting out Drogs stuff.

Should be good craic. I've volunteered to help out so I hope my time is not wasted.
