Mento,
That's exactly what has happened, the ****s are spoilt rotten, too much money and are not really bothered if truth be known!!.
Duff, since his big money move to the chelski, he's ****ing lost!! and yeah i know he's been injured but he does **** all now in a game. As far as i'm concerned they all need to take a good look at themselves and decide if they want to play for their country and not make a holy show of the country again.

Another issue, the likes of keane and duff or who ever said they would retire if stan is forced out!!
Spolied *****s.
Where did they say this. Dion Fanning wrote an article on it does not mean its true. Sometimes speculations suddenly becomes fact and people start using it as facts to back up arguments .I agree with the rest of your post but I just dont believe that is true.

In fairness Dion Fanning is one of the few journos I would trust, and if its not true why didnt duff and keane quash the rumours...??

It's very easy for journalists to take up column inches and/or push their own agenda by using quotes from an insider or an anonymous source within the FAI. It's lazy journalism in the extreme. As for Duff and Keane coming out and refuting these rumours, if they have not said it I don't see why they should. If players were expected to personally refute every single thing that they had supposedly said they wouldn't have much time to do anything else. It's one thing a player commenting, in order to set the record straight, when something they have said is misinterpreted. It's entirely another them commenting on something which is simply made up in order to push the agenda of a particular newspaper or journalist, as I believe is the case here.

I only got back from SM on the Sunday and am only getting over it now!!
so I didn't see the full media coverage in the aftermath.
I think, though, that these allegations are big enough to warrant some sort of statement by the players involved.

Fanning is a garbage journalist and is only in the job through nepotism. All he writes is speculation or what his other liverpool "supporting" pals say in the boozer.

Not if what was said is a figment of the imagination of the journalist in question.

And the "English Example" is a bit of a fallacy. The Italians are the first to boo, riot and sack their managers when things go wrong, and they didn't not win the last world cup. Surrounded by controversy and players involvement in match fixing. It just takes a good manager to make every obstacle seem like a challenge to be overcome; a barrier on the way that makes you stronger.
There is no comparison between the hype in England over the national team and that of Italy, or any other side in the world (Germany only brought 500 to Japan, I'd say there was probably less Italians). The only nations comparable for interest in the national team are the 'home nations' (sorry but you know what I mean). The furore in Italy is wholly accepted as one of the reasons Italy won the world cup. The pressure was firmly off, they were seen as a nation in ruins and little was to be expected of them in such circumstances. Apologies for getting off topic but I just wanted demonstrate that the english example is not a fallacy. We are most like them in terms of footballing culture and the personality of players, and I think it is reasonable to say that we perform better when the pressure is off.
That said, they are footballers and should be equipped to deal with it, I just reject the notion that the most effective method of support at the moment is to hound the team into a perfomance.
As regards booing, it is getting tiresome so I will leave it at this. Obviously anyone is entitled to express themselves anyway they want, and I probably wont react again as I did in San Marino. However, I am also entitled to think that booing your fellow countrymen, booing players who, in recent years have played teams like France, Spain and Germany off the pitch, is shameful. Abusing players and management, and giving the fingers, is inexcusable.

Ok name a football journo thats better(apart from humphries)!! I read fanning the whole time and i find he always does his research and is an astute follower of the game, some of his articles have been phenomenal, a real investigative journalist. he is never one to make a statement willy nilly..The only reason i can think of your apparent dislike is that u are a liverpool fan...then ur resentment would be justified...To say the only reason he is in a job is because of nepotism is pure ******xxx, andi s such a cop out. if your so adamant on his incompetency as a journalist i dare you to quote any of his work that justify this!

The same people giving out shiit and booing were the same people singing for nearly the whole match..This is just a plain untruth. In section E I was singing for the whole match; "Stephen Stauntons Green & White Army" alone for example, for about 15 mins & I was not booing. There were NOT people arond me singing. The boo boys were NOT singing for "nearly the whole match". Please do not make completely false statements to back up your argument. You guys make me sick.

I was in section E and although i booed at the end, myself and people around me were chanting a fair bit, as someone pointed out were fans not cheerleaders, would ya ever go and put on ur leprachaun suit and do a foockin jig and get off your morale highground...

I have to be honest and admit that I began to heckle Stan and John O'shea(just dont rate him) after about 30 mins a) through drink taken and b) through the fact that I could honestly sense what was to come.
At half-time i'd seen enough and left, thats my choice to make as I felt my presence wasn't supporting the team.
I'm glad I wasn't there at the final whistle as I'm not a big fan of the 'Boo boys'.

I didn't boo, I never would, but that's my choice.
It was a heartbreaking performance true and I hope I never witness anything like it again.
Could we try and keep this thread on-topic? I am sure there are other threads that have this type of content.
Cheers.

Just cause someone decides not to boo them does not make them a leprachaun suit wearing fan. We all have different ways of supporting our team and when we are winning its easy to be a fan but when we are losing it is another story and we all adop different methods to getting our frustration out. Some cheer, some boo, some go quiet some leave the ground some get more drink in etc. I chose a mixture of cheering for most of the game and also hurling out some abuse to the players towards the end but I still cheered in the most surreal way ever when Ireland scored the winner. There is no correct way of supporting your team other than going to the games.

A Liverpool I dont think so. Anyway I heard him the other day and he sounded like hie was bias towards Liverpool on Newstalk so I dont know who he supports and I dont care as it has nothilng to do with my opinion of him.
I dont like him because the article he printed the other week is typical of the type of stuff he does. He writes an article with no quotes or any evidence saying that senior players are going to retire if Staunon quits but he has not evidence to support this. Pure **** stirring on his part. Secondly he did similar stuff during the end of the Kerr reign also. He does not analyse the game but just spouts nonsense about behind the scenes bitchiness amongst teh players.
His view on the Irish team is of someone who only watches the Premiership on his laptop or somesort and he does not show that he has a love or a decent knowledge of the game.
James Lawton
James Richardson
Graham Hunter
Gerry Thornley
Emmet Malone
Tom Humprhries
Liam Mackey
are all good journalists in my opinion.

Thornley was the Eircom League correspondent for the Irish Times previously and he is a quality journalist. Richardson writes about SerieA but that does not make him a bad journalist. What all of them have in common is that they are not prone to hyperbole and do not start stories based purely on rumour, something that Fanning does time and time again. He is not better than Hyland in the Herald.
