I was not a great fan of his but I think hes revelling in the FAIs discomfort...

He was in the Pinte so my mate said when he got back ****ed as a fart at 4:30. He also got talking to the police when he thought his hotel room was a car which he tried to open with his house keys:eek:

Far from it. He's been a class act since he got shafted. You can tell these performances hurt

Was chattin to hin in the Pinte, he was rotten drunk. Everyone in there started singing for him to come back. He was chattin away to anyone that spoke to him and even posed for a few picture. Also meet Packie Bonner in the Bounty on the Tuesday night.

I was talking to him in a pub in stuttgart on the night of the game, he was well on that night as well. Seemed very approachable and was chatting away to loads of people. He did seem a bit bitter about being sacked etc but who can really blame him.

Brian has always been one for a few beers and mixing with fans. Although he was in good form in the Pinte on both Tuesday and Wednesday night, to say he was rotten drunk is exaggerating. He was in Bologna airport early on Thursday and was on our flight to Paris. Didn't look, or sound like someone who was 'rotten drunk' the night before.

go back and watch the 1-0 win in Cyprus and the 0-0 at home to Switzerland and tell me that Kerr deserved a chance.
I've nothing personal against the guy, but he had to go

Do you honestly still think that? Given the performances of the team since? You're moaning about a 1-0 win in Cyrpus. The same team (actually improved player wise IMO) lost 5-2 without Kerr

What kind of result would we expect against a bad Switzerland team now?

They weren't that bad a team.Played together as a unit, tough to break down.

Kerr had to go, just as Stan does now. We all (foolishly) believed an improvement would be made, and I still believe with an improved manager it would have come, and I still think with an improved manager on Staunton, it will come too.

Do people still think we had a hope of beating switxerland. Lok at the spine of their team. Their centre halves, central midfielders and strikers are MILES ahead of ours.

Only team no to concede in the world cup too...

I think that most people if they knew what we were gonna get would have said keep kerr. At the time he had to go.

Yes, given the choice between Kerr and Staunton right now, I'd take Kerr.
That doesn't mean I think he should have been kept on, just that Staunton was not an improvment on him.

They were also undefeated in the qualifying campaign and in the world cup itself.

Switzerland haven't lost a competitive international since Euro 2004, against France.
They have lost their last 3 games in a row (all friendlies) against Germany, Brazil and Austria

They're not great but are still way ahead of Ireland. You're an absolute fool if you believe otherwise. IN both games we played them they were the better side and since then they've been OK and we've gone backwards.

when kerr was sacked we were led to believe that his replacement was martin o'neill. at least that was what i thought after the swiss game. that would have been ok but in hindsight he should never have went.

maybe kerr should have done what walter smith did for scotland and bring in an ex-international as part of his backroom team (i know that hughton was there but maybe someone like aldo) to lighten spirits and help out with training. i think the fact that kerr went into every detail was both his major strength and weakness. i still reckon that roy keane should not have walked out before the WC but it says a lot that he came back during kerrs reign. would that happen now with 'da gaffer'

the problem with the current internationals is they want their international trips to be a jolly with the boys instead of a proper professional set-up which kerr tried to bring. they are in a comfort zone and are happy with their lot while we fans are becoming more embarrased by the game.

yes, the team lacked something with kerr at the helm but the foundations were there for a professional set up whereas now we have bozo the clown and his step dad delaney.

Not sure who led you to believe that. Most people wanted O'Neill, but he was never coming to the Irish job, (1) not enough money (2) players not good enough (3) always wanted Premiership club and bide his time for Man.U job.

as i remember it was general consesus that , in fact i reckon that delaney was convinced he was coming. i am well aware of the reasons why he chose not too

no you are the fool
i would expect an irish team to beat a BAD Swiss team in Lansdowne Road
why not, ireland need a good kick up the ass, they have decent enough players, many playing in the premiership,
international football is rubbish..re greece, south korea et al, or hell even england
so yes i would and do expect ireland to beat these average international teams

Presumably you mean the same bad Switzerland team that the eventual World Cup finalists failed to beat twice in the same group and failed to beat again in the WC itself.

To be fair to Kerr both Duff and Roy Keane were out of the Swiss match, but I'll never forgive him for taking Robbie Keane off at the hour mark and replacing him with world class centre half turned striker Gary Doherty. Need a goal with half an hour to go, I know, I'll take off the player most likely to score. Appalling decision. That said he's miles ahead of Stan, we wouldn't have lost to Cyprus with a pub team if Kerr was in charge.

Ah right yes , I see it now , you are a footballing purist , You hark for the days of total football where the game is played as a thing of beauty and the footballers are artists. I imagine then when Big Jacks Army were lumping and boring their way to a WC 1/4 final that you were the other one in the corner with Eamonn Dunphy despairing at the sheer unsubtleness of it all , whilst the rest of the country went mental.

In fairness, the swiss team is hardly full of world class players, many of them wouldnt get into the ireland team, and thats saying something.....nothing to do with football purism, but there is no excuse in not beating that swiss team, especailly ina crunch game, the performance was souless and pitiful..and the players didnt respect kerr

Both centre halves, both central midfielders and definitely Frei, probably one or two others would get into our team

Dunne is better than senderos imo, he is severly over-rated, djourou has a lot to prove, would take one centre half, frei wouldnt get in, can barely score in french league, he is a waste of space, hardly better than keane or doyle,, maybe vogel would get in centre midfield but thats it...
