I wasn't aware of that, I will change it moving forward! :)
A Google search on "Cork Druids" to learn more about this turned up a Kerry Green Sox team too. I guess my Tralee Tricksters are going to get the boot as well.

I've always wondered why the bloke who came up with the word palindrome didn't make up a word which was spelt the same backwards as forwards. That's what I'd have done.

Does this take into account that even in the US, the US style is disappearing? MLS clubs seem to be favoring European-type names these days. In some cases, this is a good thing because the previous name was pants (Dallas Burn to FC Dallas). In other cases, it's a dumb and unpopular move (Real Salt Lake in an area with no Hispanic heritage, and no ties to anything monarchist from any nation, Colorado Rapids to Arsenal Colorado, dumping a great locally-flavored name for a copycat identity.) This'd be a hilarious irony... European clubs naming themselves American-style when even American clubs don't name themselves American-style.

Actually 20 per cent of Salt Lake City's population is Hispanic.

Well, MLS is the only American sports league that doesn't follow the CityName Nickname format and to be honest with you I think it is a bad idea for their ability to catch on in the USA. Using European style team names may give the league more international credibility but it makes it strange to the common American.

The point is, some of the Europizations in MLS have proven to be unpopular is all. But in the end, it's a bit odd for EL clubs to use US names when the country that this style of naming comes from is abandoning it in the same sport.
