According to Maccer, Keith Doyle and Brian Shortall are still with the club, Brian King is still just training with us and hasn't signed and he said nothing about Pat Sullivan.

I heard that Ciaran Ryan (ex-Bray) was signing for UCD, not sure how true it is though. Also heard Kildare were looking for him....

He can't be good enough for UCD then, but maybe it's the best we can get with our budget.

Pineapple did you ask Maccer about that Shane fella?

Is it possible Maccer's not up to date with the news? I mean you can't get more direct than Dman's source!

I'd trust Maccer over Dman's source.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Ryan is possably one of the worst players in the league. If you sign him expect to lose a LOT of goals down the left hand side

I heard Hurley is gone, any truth in this?

Signed for us as cover; but we have also signed Steve Williams, who i think will be our 1st choice keeper with O'Connor on the bench.

We signed James Hussey, think they're talking about Stephen Hurley.

Really? Huge signing for Dolan if so. Hurley's a cracking little player. He'll be among the best midfielders in the first division if he drops down.

I've only seen him play once (against Sligo at the end of last season) so dont know anything about him really, but from reading threads on here he sounds like a good player. Hope theres some truth to the rumour now....!

Hurley is from Wicklow. Don't you have a policy of young Wexford lads only? I agree with the above, he'd be an excellent coup for the club. He's got a good freekick on him too. Hope we'll be hanging onto him.

I dont think we do. From what I can see, the majority of the panel will be local players, but there will be a few "foreigners"....

I also heard Micko was after Hurley to join up with the Wicklow footballers this year but he turned him down. Sounds like a talented fella!

How reliable is your source? It seems like a strange decision seeing as he would be our starting RM for the first half of the season at least.

Keith Doyle has retired due to work commitments.

Most of the rest of last year's squad have re-signed - Tony Mac, Allie Mac, Kenna, Alan Mahon, Quigley, etc - although there are one or two whose contracts are being ironed out.

Are the creases in the contracts flattened yet? :D

UCD defender announces retirement

February 17, 2007

UCD defender Keith Doyle has announced his retirement from eircom League football with immediate effect.

Doyle, who also spent time with St Patrick’s Athletic, Shamrock Rovers, Athlone Town and Dublin City, joined the Students last summer.

However, work commitments have forced the 27-year-old to hang up his boots, at senior professional level at least.

Doyle’s decision follows the departures of teammates Pat Kavanagh and Gary Dicker to Birmingham City, leaving manager Pete Mahon with a few holes to plug ahead of the new season next month.

That's just shocking. He still had a good career left in him.:(

The College Tribune had this ages ago (inside line I guess ;)). It's a pity. He played well for us, and let Kenna play where he's best.

Well if think that's bad Darragh Ryan is being actively sought by Cork City according to today's STAR.

Has Shorthall officially left yet? Any word on Brian King? It seems unlikely that we will be signing him now.

James Hussey has already left Bray.

Stephen Hurley played for them at the weekend, so it seems he's not going to be around next season. Which is rather annoying.

I assume Brian King is signing seeing as he played for us at the weekend?

Hussey has actually left Bray by mutual consent ! and Hurley has signed for us on a season long loan deal according to The Star today.
