They do indeed. The only advantage jackman has over hogan pk is its location which is adjacent the railway station in the centre of limerick, whilst hogan pk is in the middle of a suburban dump...

The far side could have a two tier stand easilly done, but id settle for an athlone style stand there. The two ends are big enough for stand or big terraces (not like ones in turners X) which are ****e! The near side is only suitable IMO for shops. toilets and a tv gantry. The flats at the left hand side (hyde rd) are to be knocked so a big new entrance could be built there.

According to feasibility studies Jackman park can be developed into a 10,000 capacity stadium. It can't be sold for development as it is assigned for sports only, which can't be changed. There is a 2,000 capacity stand approved already. The ground isn't much at the moment but give it time, the right people are behind L37, sporting Limerick seem to be a very forward thinking group. The future looks positive imo.

Regarding De Jacks, expansion is limited as you can see, by both houses and the station. But at the moment, there wont be need for space for more that 1,000 people at very most I guess, if that.

They do indeed. It has already been said above as regards the 2,000 seat stand that will definitely be built. The flats along the Carey's Road side will be demolished allowing for an extra and improved entrance and will create more room within the ground which would allow for a 10,000 capacity stadium to be built. As far as I can see Limerick 37 have very definite plans drawn up for this and also have had feasability studies done.

I would hope (but im not too optimistic) that jackman would be better then the cross. In ireland we seem to have this idea that ramming 2000 people into a "stand" is a great idea, where the front 5/10 rows of seats are all level with each other and know one can see over the person in front of them no matter how tall they are. Id much prefer everyone to be able to see all the field and be sitting on comfort. i hope decent stands are built but ones like Turners cross and Sligo should be a no go due to their unambitious design faults.

I was only at a few matches last season, with well short of 500 at each.
But the previous season had at least a couple of 1500 attendances.
Given the football roots of the organisation behind L37 and the enthusiasm expressed by Ger Finnin when he addressed and answered questions at the SC meeting, I'd be a little more optimistic about attendances. I'm not expecting 2000 at every home game, but it might be a distinct possibility for bigger matches (eg. if we get a big draw in the Cup).

Wrong flats. The ones in Careys road are being knocked Hyde Rd are remaining.

But it cant be rezoned as it has a "sporting licence" attached to it so its a no go there on rezoning. And as for the flats being knocked, there is one set of flats on the (name i could be wrong on, road) but its next door to the station and has panda tool hire in its line???? one of those sets of flats is to be knocked. im unaware of any other flats existing, which back onto De Jacks.

as for cork fans and design faults, as i said a lot of stands being built, are sloped seating in a fashion which prohibits persons sitting in the first 5/10 rows of seats from seeing the game. Its cheap in cost thats why you see so much of it. Examples (Cork old stand and a bit of yer new stand, sligo, Limerick GAA ground the stand and the new development, front three rows of seats in that nice looking stand in Buckley park, the barn like stands with obstructions in front of you in Monaghan and Bohs) Also as you say stands not not stretching the length of the pitch :rolleyes: Ideal stand? no obstructions and steep sloped ala most grounds in Europe so everyone can see the game.

Whatever about slopes etc I think a replica of the Cross in Limerick would be brilliant. The Cross is a great place to see a game of football. :ball:
