A report from the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/6286695.stm) saying that the Ombudsman has found that the Northern Irish police force have in the past colluded with UVF members, and that retired officers have refused to cooperate with the investigation.

And some reaction from involved politicians (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/6286657.stm)

1/ Not news merely confirms what the dogs in the street were telling the cats in the street 30 years ago

2/ It ranks up there with the SAS bombed Dublin and Monaghan as things everyone knew... what is new is that someone at long last can prove it.

It also shows that there is a change taking place in policing in the North albeit slowly. Could you imagine this information being made public even ten years ago?

Surely this is a good thing as is not being covered up anymore & shows that SF can trust the independent PSNI now?

SF have no choice but to endorse the PSNI or else return to shooting & bombing.

Time to move on & learn from the past.
