Price seems a bit steep. Hard to know if it'll be much of a success. Great idea though and good to see the club putting something together so quick.

Guest player on the night: Keith Foy:D

I don’t think something like this was ever done as a fundraiser for Rovers. Best of luck

How much of a cut are CPT getting from this? Their reputation is somewhat tarnished in parts of the poker community in Ireland. However I can't say I ever played one of their tournaments as their rake seems excessive.

I believe this is a sligo rovers organised event.

€110 is that much at all to poker playing people, might head up myself for it.

I can see every club robbing this idea as it should be a definite money spinner.

Also you could post it here, you may be able to attract some people who post there from the west.
http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=630

But you will need to answer these questions or most of them, Starting stack, Blinds etc will be needed.

I play with Foy every so often in Dublin he is a pure bluffer !!

excellent idea. glad to see it's on a weekend too. this would be a club initiative since it was raised at that meeting they had.

should this not be on the club website ?

obviously there is a cut for cpt but with entry at 100 + 10 then it should be a profitable enough venture. i wonder if casino in sligo was considered.

anyway very well done to all who organised and with those great prizes i expect it to be hugely successful. cud become a bi-annual or annual event.

Out of curiousity, how do Sligo Rovers make money out of this?
Let's assume the registration fees go to Celtic Poker Tour and that we get 200 people at it but there is a car and €10,000 to be paid out-what happens if we dont get the sponsers for the €10,000?
I wonder what you get for your sponsership?
It's good to see a different fundraising idea but I hope it wasn't rushed into for the sake of doing it.

Neither, from what I hear its been organised by the supporter who proposed the idea at the meeting.
Well done and every success.

We have been planning one for some time too but nothing like those prizes. Ours is also a lot cheaper to enter! Not sure of the exact details, other than its on Friday 16th, at the mo coz have no interest in poker!

Good luck with it, but that is a big prize fund and cant see how you could make much money.

I don't think we're claiming that it is. I know that Monaghan are using the same format in the coming weeks - what I understand is relatively new, is the format that is being used.

I'll stand corrected on that one, though.

No, Pats have used Poker tournaments before. I'm not knocking you and good luck to Sligo. I was just refuting the claim that other clubs would copy Sligo.

You might be the first to use that particular company

Can some one get the Blinds, Blind Times and other tournament information for the tournament.

It could then be advertised on boards.ie poker tournament forum which could generate more entries.

Anyone interested in sponsoring prizes, or requiring more detail of the event should contact Hughie at 087 957 3526

Whenever u get the graphics sorted for the website paraic maybe you could put together a poster and put it on the website(if you have time) that people could print out at home and put up in their workplace, local, family business etc. Also somethin similiar might be good for games when the season starts. I think galway do somethin like that.

I seen hughie in centra across from showgies today putting up posters. Fair play to him. Hopefully the club recognise the effort he's puttin in and maybe present with a new jersey signed by the team at the first game of season.

poster is now available on the official site

http://www.sligorovers.com/images/stories/icons/SR_Fundraiser_Poster.pdf

I'm not sure if this gives all the info that previous posters asked for.

anyone who wants a poster should contact Hughie, there's tonnes printed, so there shouldn't be any problem with getting a decent quality poster for anyone who wants them
