Born in Ireland, raised in Ireland, lived here until he was 21. Now settled abroad. Definitely "our" rugby leaguer. Unless you think differently?

Well, i am just quoting what he said, i want to go home to THE UK, to MY FAMILY, infering is family is from the uk, playing for a team called Great Britain, that dropped the Irish and Ireland part from their name.... I am buying a flat over here, but If i go to america or australia, I am never going to call "home" the UK!!!! Nor would most people who consider themselves "Our only"....

The UK is home for him, what don't you understand?

paul_oshea

he is british.

Dodge

How is he?

Oh and another thing, were does he mention the UK? Only thing he mentions is home. The aussie media say the UK. He makes a point in saying he's not going back to Great Britain to play rugby. If he's going home to finish his education, it'd be safe enough to say he's coming back to Ireland, where he earned his primary degree...

does the GB rugby league team not include Ireland as part of their union.
They have 4 crests on the jersey a (shamrock for Ireland), I know thats sounds really wrong.

Look, horses for courses MAYBE, but even plastics over here say home as in ireland. Unless of course you are trying to make the distinction like "home-home" or "out-out" :D

no it is, if you say your home is in the UK and your family are from the UK, what does that mean to you?

Ireland is no longer part of the UK, just to let you know.

You're wrong Soper. As usual. Ask paul...

He isn't usually wrong Dodge.

I'm confused:confused: Now that Carney's not playing rugby anymore should he ask his family to wrap a green flag around themselves and move to Éire so someone doesn't come around and take his Irish citizenship away from him?

Maybe Carney meant he was going home to his wife and kids in South Dublin and was calling that the UK:confused: And Ed Joyce is from Wicklow - what's the constitutional status of that county?

we all know south dublin is just another "shire" and wicklow now fits into "south county dublin" :P

We all know the K-Club is in Dublin, remember the Ryder Cup, the commentators always saying, ''here in Dublin''.

Proper order too - just like Drogheda should be proud of it's location within the Pale. All hail the Greater Dublin megalopolis!

"I want to return home so I can go back to the UK to finish my Masters and to reunite with my family "

paul, the so bit could mean that he wants to come home to ireland to reunite with his family, and because we are closer to the uk, its easier for him to finish his study. then again maybe his family is some odd 'lets forget we are irish' church congregating in wigan.

when i heard the news i was thinking more along the lines of would he come 'home' to play for leinster or munster

paul_oshea

ya it could....

....but it doesn't :D

nah i thought that myself when i was reading it!
