They were playing Shrewsbury Town tonight. Birmingham site notes that "Irish trialist" Pat Kavanagh lined out at number 7. Don't know how things went though. For the record, he scored in the previous game.

Edit - Brum won 1-0; Kav didn't score.

Here's an entire match report as posted on the Brum forum - doesn't quote a source and I don't think it's from the official site...

A STUNNING 18-yard strike from Ryan Burge 10 minutes into the second period gave Blues all three points in this Pontins Holiday League Central Division game at Damson Parkway last night.

The first half was a tame affair with only a couple of spurned half-chances by Nick Wright worthy of note.

After half-time the game became more open. On 54 minutes Burge's shot was deflected off Wright into the net but the big front-runner was offside.

Burge was successful a minute later, his perfect execution giving Ryan Esson in the Shrewsbury goal no chance.

New signing Patrick Kavanagh showed some great skill down the right wing but Blues were unable to add a second.
So basically feck all happened, but Kav still shone. Sounds like he could have a future there...

They beat Port Vale 2-0 tonight, but Kav wasn't in the squad for some reason. There still seems to be a doubt as to whether he's actually signed or not.

Just looking over the transfer section on the BBC web site and say that

"1310: Elsewhere in the Championship, Norwich's Craig Fleming has joined Rotherham on a free, Crystal Palace's Marco Reich has returned to Germany with Kickers Offenbach for nothing, Peter Sweeney has left Stoke for Yeovil on loan and Birmingham have signed winger Pat Kavanagh."

Looks official now... but i though it already was ?

Some schoolboy club that Kavanagh had played for were looking for some sort of a fee. It was always going to go through eventually and Kavanagh was at Birminghmam "on trial" the whole time.

Birmingham reserves beat Stoke 3-0 last Monday. Kav started; Dicker came on as a sub.

"Mat Birley and Paddy Kavanagh caused plenty of problems from the wide areas..." said the manager on the website.

Dicker and Kav both played 90 minutes in a Birmingham Senior Cup game against Willenhall Town. The team was changed about a bit, kind of like a reserve League Cup game. Anyhoo, Kav scored the second. Two in four now, I think. They now play Coventry CIty or Stourbridge in the semis. Tough draw. :p

Dicker's Wikipedia has also been updated to inculde a quote from the Birmingham reserve manaager, who says he's a "very decent player. He's a good technical player, who can see and put in some lovely weighted passes and is decent with both feet."

Both played 90 minutes in a 2-0 home defeat against Walsall last night. Mikael Forssell made his comeback from injury.

Since Pineapple's last update it seems Kavanagh hasn't played since and Dicker has had a couple of substitute appearances.

Birmingham have been going with some very strong reserve teams of late - Forssell, Danns and a few other first teamers - and Kav and Dicker have only been getting look ins as subs.

Nope. Colchester United. :)

Both started in a 2-1 win over Barnsley yesterday afternoon. Kav set up both goals.

What's the link between UCD and Colchester United? and it's not a trick question there actually is one....

Kav scored against Leeds in a 1-1 draw. Don't know the team, so don't know if Dicker played.

Dicker played 78 minutes of the above match.

He also scored his first goal in the reserves' 3-0 win over Huddersfield this afternoon. Birmingham need one more point to seal the title. The official Birmingham website has a picture of Dicker, but it's in his UCD jersey! Mikael Forssel scored the other two.

Last game of the season has just started - Kav and Dicker in the starting XI, with Brum needing a point to win the title. They're 1-0 down to Shrewsbury after three minutes though. Birmingham website is doing live updates (http://www.blues.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Match/ReservesReport/0,,10412~1016492,00.html).

They drew 3-3 with an injury time equaliser and won the league by a point.

Kav seems to have taken the mick - he scored the first (to make it four for the season), set up the second, hit the woodwork and set up another lad to hit the post two. Dicker got an "assist" on a disallowed goal. They were certainly mentioned in the match report more times than in any other game.

Big question now is if they get kept on, or if they find a new club in England or here.

The indo today said that the two lads could be coming back.

Mahon has revealed that he plans to bring Gary Dicker and Patrick Kavanagh back to the club after their six-month stint with Birmingham City ended this week. The pair moved to St Andrews on short-term deals but Birmingham's promotion to the Premiership means neither player will now be kept on.

The Irish Daily Mail had the same story and quotes from Pete as well.
'' Gary Dicker will be back training with us this week. He wants to stay in the UK, which is fair enough. If somebody doesn't want him then, that's a different kettle of fish, '' said Mahon. ' We'd take Gary back tomorrow. He's a good player and was very good for us.
He's a good lad and left with no problems at all. If nothing pans out for him in the UK then he'll come back to us. Birmingham have paid him up. Clubs like Nottingham Forest and Stockport County are interested in him,'' added the former Bohemians boss.

And on Kavanagh , Pete was quoted as follows '' Paddy Kavanagh is resting up. I'll be spekaing to him during the week. When he left he said he'd come back to us. I haven't spoken to him yet so if he doesn't I have no control over that. We'd love to have him back but there's we can do nothing until July 1 anyway. There's plenty of time.''

There was something similar in the Herald recently too.

Yay!

But will Dicker be able to oust Tony Mac, McFaul, Finn, Crowley, King and so on...? :D

Interesting. Maccer or Sherro was saying earlier that the two wouldn't be coming back to us anyways.

The real question is: Is he any closer to being the finished article?

Still a good chance that that will be the case. Dicker doesn't want to come back but he's still contracted to us, so if he doesn't get a club (which is unlikely) he will be our player for the remainder of the season. Also wouldn't be surprised to see Kav go to Pats or Bohs.

Dicker doesn't want to come back

Is that a bebo comment or are you just assuming on the basis he went away? It could be beneficial to him to get back to playing some senior competetive football. You don't want to be arsing around for a year on trials.

Both, and Mahon said it in his above comments.
