View Full Version : Who the hell does Noel Spillane think he is?

In todays Echo he makes one particular statement that really annoys me "they need time, encouragement and patience. They could do without this fickle minority support.
He also goes on to say that people have a personal vendetta against Liam Murphy.

Does Mr. Spillage not realise that the majority of the Murphy Out people are the most loyal City supporters you could find. Noel Spillane has some nerve calling us fickle. Also, why does he continue to say its only a minority?

for some light relief, Spillane, in the same article, calls the team "Murphy's mob"!

I feel he was contradicting himself. He says in one line that we do have the players to win a league (interesting, in naming them he ommitted Deccie!), and then in the next to say that a number of players dont exactly have a eL calibre (Carey and warren!!)

I LOVED the line in Murphys statement saying that he is good friends with alot of the board and backroom staff.

Same ol City!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MURPHY OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

surely he is entitled to a opinion as well (or is that just the murphy out brigade). ye really don't like it when someone disagrees with yedo ye? noel spillane is a widely respected journalist of a very popular paper or is that too democratic for ye as well.?

as far as I can see at the matches ye do seem to be a minority. i think murphy should go but they way some of the posters (notice I say some) carry on here it's embarrassing:rolleyes:

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Think if u actually bothered to read it Dalo (i know you cant, ur in Dub), you would actually see what the complaint is. It was possibly the worst piece of writing ive ever seen. He contradicted himself so many times, and at times gave compeeling reasons as the why Murphy SHOULD go!!!

Dalo, i dont know you, but why is it everytime you make a post u seem to insult someone??

Why not turn the other cheek and be the bigger man for once in your life?

Belive it or not i do think u actually make some good points which people agree with every now and then, but then u go and insult someone and make urself seem like a petualant spoilt teenager.

leave that to the christians:D

i don't think I have ever insulted anyone (I don't think the spacer thing really counts). as you can see from above the only person being abusive is corner-bloke.

all I am doing is questioning the accepted staus quo of the murphy out brigade- not a bad thing surely:p

anyway we all probably broadly agree on the same things.

enjoy the match on friday;)

He is entitled to his opinion of course, and I think itīs better that a nespaper would carry both points of view. I canīt say I agree with Spillane, but heīs got the gig and he can do what he chooses- itīs a democracy after all.

I think, dalo, you have to differentiate between "minority" and "vocal minority." IMO, the opposition to murphy (in itīs various guises) is a majority, but that is a silent majority. The vocal people are in a minority, but thereīs only a minority of fans who are vocal about anything- chanting or whatever.

Spillane...a well respected journalist
By whom, dalo?
Do you actually read his stuff and listen to him?
The Echo standard of writing is particularly poor, but he is even lower than the normal standard.
This has nothing to do with any of his opinions, it's just that writing is not one of Mr. Spillanes strong points.
Don't expect him to be getting a job with the Irish Times anytime soon........;)
