Please can someone answer these questions.
Is Limerick FC, formally Limerick Utd founded in 1937 gone to God?
I know they have not being granted a licence, so can they apply next year ?and Limerick possibly have 2 clubs in the Eircom League in the future, or is the FAI just looking to replace them with Soccer Limerick.
What happened to the old chairman called Danny Drew, didnt he invest a lot of money? It seems very sad from this armchair view that the history can just be wiped away.
Are Limerick football fans happy that he is gone and do they feel this is a new start, Have there not being a few false dawns in the past I.E Pat Grace and Limerick City
Thanks for your response

Hi
The traditions of Senior soccer in Limerick have been upheld under many banners over the decades and I'm sure that going forward the history and traditions of Limerick will be incorperated into which ever group gets a licence going forward. We must all remember that Limerick had their highest finish for 4 years last season and thats what should be remembered of the last group who held a license.

The history will be maintained. To me it's the same club, just another name and new owners. But essentially the same senior club. I think we were once called Limerick United AFC, so hopefully the new club will be called Limerick United FC, United being the apt choice seeing that all sectors of Limerick football will be involved. :ball:

Can Limerick FC apply for the league next year regardless if there is a new entity called Limerick Soccer Club? I presume there is still a business called Limerick FC. If they secure a ground /facilitys etc.
Or do i need to move on with my life and accept the new regime.
Sorry if im repeating myself

It wouldnt be worth their while to apply for a licence as the FAI hold all the cards and the same reason for turning them down in the first place would be hyped up again. BTW when full accounts are submitted on the 31st of march guess who will be the shining light of how good account management is done? thats right Limerick FC/JRM sports. Also the name has changed many times before. First from 1937 to 77 i think it was Limerick AFC, then from 77 to 84 Limerick United, two teams were tech in the league in 84/85 as the league was held up for some months as the new Limerick City 1985 to 1992 fought it out with Limerick United for who was the rightful limerick and then Limerick FC from 1992 to 2006 but all the time its really been the same club. Id like to use the Limerick FC name but its tied to JRM sports or the Limerick United one but im not sure if we can

LIMERICK 37 was announced this morning, as the new name for senior soccer. As LTID just text me, if the Limerick Leader get this in the letter box they'll prob think there was a raid on a house :D "FREE THE LIMERICK 37" by John O'Shaughnessy.

Limerick 37 is very continental folks. You've got to admit that being European is cool. Schalke 04; TSV Munich 1860; Limerick 1937... got a ring to it for sure

At first i was a bit befuddled with it, but its started to grow on me, go on, say it a few times! Limerick is in the title and we play in blue, nuff said. The only concern i have is with the badge, any details/plans?

Beginning to really like it now dont care what anyone else thinks, people in work tonight were wondering whats up with name, soon as they found out about senior soccer being formed in Limerick in 1937 thay went from "what the fudge?" to "its not bad acually". It will grow evenually (as i said to my girlfriend at the time!!!) :)

Limerick 37
It's different. It's memorable. When the name is explained to people they might appreciate the tradition of senior football in the city. I like it.

Personally I was pretty aghast at the name right at first. But it has sorta grown on me. That said this is a new club lads and anybody who pretends any differently is just fooling themselves. With any luck Danny Drew will finally go away in the near future and Limerick37 will pick up the baton and before we know it we'll have a struggling first division club to strangle ourselves with. :)
