MONS CLUB COACH IS ON THE BALL
As announced a few weeks back, Monaghan United FC have appointed a Club Coach to oversee all aspects of coaching in the Club. Thomas Heffernan, has taken up this role with effect from Monday 8th January 2007 and is committed to raising all standards of football right across the Monaghan United FC family. Thomas has been working with the Monaghan Credit Union Mini Leagues since they re-started in October 2006 and has assisted Juvenile Managers and the Ladies Team in their training sessions since September. He has also been head coach at the various highly successful Camps held at Monaghan United FC for the 5 to 15 year old age group. This experience, along with his UEFA B Licence, were central to his appointment and the young local lad is excited by the challenge of coaching the Senior team in addition to his duties as Under 21 Coach which he carries forward from last season.

As U21 coach last year, Thomas accomplished a lot with his young side including an impressive season beating teams like Sligo and Derry City and had some good results in the Foyle Cup. Undoubtedly his time as a Monaghan United and Dungannon Swifts player has stood him in good stead and his love and commitment to the game shines through in his coaching style.

Thomas will be co-ordinating all coaching and it is anticipated that all sections of the club will benefit from his hard work and dedication as we move into a more professional era at Monaghan United FC.

MINI LEAGUES
The Monaghan Credit Union Mini Leagues will be resuming on Sunday 21st January at usual times. All registered children should attend at their normal time.

It is hoped that in early February we will be taking the children for a day out at the JJB Soccer Dome in Dundalk. This should a good day out for the children and only registered members of the Mini Leagues will be allowed to attend.

5 ON U14 DUNDALK SCHOOLBOY LEAGUE REPRESENTATIVE SIDE
Monaghan United’s tradition of supplying top notch players to the Dundalk Schoolboy League Representative side continues with 5 of Monaghan’s young players making the Under 14’s squad. Jack McCarron, Cillian Coleman, Aaron McCarey, Pete Dooney and Philip Donnolly will all be taking part in the upcoming Under 14’s Inter League Eurotab Cup competition.

JUVENILE NOTES:
There are no Juvenile games this weekend in the Dundalk Schoolboy League and all Monaghan United’s pitches are closed down to all football until further notice due to the inclement weather.

Well there are a few of the local lads who have performed really well on the Senior team over the last few seasons, Paul Whelan was selected for the Irish Colleges team, Stephen Finnegan played for Rep of Irl under age teams and played for Northern Ireland Schools, and then there are kids like Cian Mackey from Cavan who is a fantastic new addition to the team, he scored on his debut towards end of last season, lads with heart like Finbar Heffernan. Last year our U21's recorded some great results including beating a Sligo Rovers team that had 5 of their senior team including Foy & Cash and beat Derry in the Foyle Cup while also losing out to IFK Gothenberg by 2-1. We are hopeful that they will have heart and determination as well as talent and are aiming to vastly improve on last years league position.
