Athlone squad takes shape for 2007
Athlone Town's squad is shaping up nicely ahead of the 2007 season and a promotion bid from the first division of the eircom League. Manager Michael O'Connor has further strengthened his squad today with the signing of two influential players. O'Connor already made one of the signings of the close season when he snapped up Paul McTiernan from Sligo before Christmas.
Joining from Midlands rivals Longford Town is Davy Byrne. The 27 year old has vast experience from his time with Shelbourne, Derry City and Saint Patrick's Athletic. He picked up an FAI Cup runners up medal with the Saints in 2003 which joined his league winners medal from 2001/02 with Shels.
