pity as its rare that a book about sligo rovers comes out. The last time would have being Eamonn Sweeneys effort in mid 90s!

If you include the new one about the Showground this will be the fourth book about Sligo Rovers since Sweeneys one. They Thinks it's All Over was based on the 94/95 season from a fans perspective, North West Frontier (Conal Collier) documented around 15 months between 1997-98 when Nicky Reid was manager, Joe Molloy also wrote a history of the club which was published in the late nineties and this current one makes it four.

The book is only available, free of charge, to current season ticket holders, club members and 500 club members. More details soon.

Cost? They might only be allowed print copies in batches of (say) 250 so if they're unsure of how it'd sell, they might stick with 250 instead of a possible loss making 500

They will need at least a print run of 500. Seeing as each member of the 500 Club is getting a copy.Plus season ticket holders and members. I'd guess a print run of 1,000 would be more like it.

Can you tell me the author and year of this book.

The book was written by Declan Burke and came out shortly after the 94/95 season.

The current Showgrounds book is not on sale because it was funded through Peace III, so is only available free of charge.

I myself don't have it so ebay and second hand book shops are probably your only hope. I asked Molloy for a copy after it had gone out of print and he said he didn't even have one himself. There was also another book published on the history in the late seventies, I actually had this or maybe still do buried in my mothers attic.

Martin Finan now of the County London had a big input into the production of that book.

Should be of interest to Bohs aficionados, EL and Irish fans alike so ill post here - a photography book about Dalymount Park was launched in the members bar on November 18th. Price of the book is €19.95. Some Bohs coverage but mostly other events (FAI Cup Finals, Internationals and the like)

"Dalymount Park: The Home of Irish Football" is a lovingly crafted pictorial history of one of Dublin’s most treasured landmarks, put together by journalist and lifelong League of Ireland supporter Colin White.
Spanning twelve decades, the book contains fantastic photographs and magic memories from the stadium’s 125-year existence.
Irish legend John Giles, a man who stood in the terraces as a boy watching his heroes gracing the turf at ‘Dalyer’, has penned a heartfelt foreword – a love letter to the place where he began his international career.

I had a look at this when I was Christmas shopping at lunchtime, it's nothing short of fantastic. Really well put together, great photos, plenty of programmes etc for the anoraks. Pleased to see a very large Bohs presence in it- it must have been tempting to play to the crowd and focus on Ireland international content, but there's plenty of room for both in a fabulous looking book.

Picked up a copy for myself and one for my Dad. Lovely book.
It's a terrific book - brilliant photographs which are really well reproduced, BUT as I had been warned before I got it, the captions leave a lot to be desired. Not much information, for the most part. 'Bohemians Squad' with no date for the photo nor any names of the players featured really isn't good enough. The fact that Tony Ward is featured prominently in the 'FAI Cup Final Bohemians v Limerick United' photo from 1982 is surely worthy of a mention - but it isn't. So much of the captioning is arbitrary.
Ten out of ten for photos and design, but they really should have got an editor to deal with the captions. But still a genuine 'must have' for Irish football fans.

Paul O'Brien's book 'For the Love of the Game' was launched after the Pat's game on Friday night. Not sure where to get a copy at the moment.

Neal Horgan's 'Second City' was also launched, his follow up book to Death of a Football Club.

And staying on the subject of Cork, Bobby Tambling's autobiography 'Goals in Life' was released last month.

The Sligo Rovers club history book, limited hardback edition, is out (€75) and the regular version is coming soon (€50).

And there will be another Dundalk Season Review.

I know they'll use the 'limited edition' tag to justify it, but that is fierce pricey for a book about an Irish football club.

Is it really limited - like 500 copies - and so priced like that to justify the print run ?

Yes, it is limited. The only way to get the limited edition is to put your name forward. Less than a couple of hundred of the limited editions. So pretty limited alright. For the limited edition you get: a hardback copy, your name printed in it and a couple or other additions (I think they will all be numbered, so its a limited edition set in effect).

Years of hard work gone into this. It will be a real encyclopaedia of all things Sligo Rovers.

"One Team, One Dream, Won Friday Night" will be released in March/April. It's 35 stories of 35 fans of 35 LOI clubs, past & present. This way you get the stories of lifelong fans of the club they love. All current LOI clubs have at least one item and there are also stories from clubs no longer in the league like Monaghan United, Kildare County,Newcastlewest etc. I'll be launching it in various clubs/venues around Ireland
