Best of luck to Barca, Porto, PSV and Lille. English clubs winning in Europe does nothing for the Irish game.

i'd give celtic a squeak of a chance given milan's diabolical campaign so far, a win at fortress park in the first leg and then a trip to a restless san siro with something to hang on to..i know CL away record is poor but the knockout stages are a horse of a different colour(remember UEFA cup!!)
dont think barca liverpool is the best. again back to UEFA cup the year liverpool won it, biggest damb squib in living memory at the nou camp(obviously different teams now but i tend to hold grudges) when the pool were managed by a certain gerard houllier who has claimed he expects lyon to win it out. i think i'll watch inter valencia, love both those teams

Nonsense. Barca v a mid-table English side who have flattered to rise to the heady heights of fifth in the table, their highest spot all season? You rate this higher than Man Utd v Lille or Real v Bayer Munich?! Or even Mourinho going back to Porto, who have won 11 of 13 games in the Portuguese league to date?

In fact every game not including an English side looks a far more interesting tie

I think Milan was one of the best draws Celtic could have looked to get and I think they have a chance. Milan will be favourites of course, there's no doubt about it but they are not having the best of seasons so far even if they didn't have the points deduction on board.
Also, I feel while they are technically gifted, they are sometimes methodical in their approach and that's why I think Celtic have an outside chance. If they had drawn one of the Spanish teams I would've given them very little chance as Celtic cannot live with flair teams.
Arsenal v PSV should be pleasing on the eye and I think Liverpool have a chance against Barca too. Every tie is not clear cut IMO.

Chelsea went back to porto last season and nothing was made of it. i think even after what happened last season with utd and lille they got the teams all the group winners were looking for. Real had played bayern alot in previous years and i usually found them boring. i just think domestic liverpool and european liverpool are totally different teams. the past 2 champions battling it out i think is the tie of the round. i love the type of football barca play and i think liverpool play a better brand of football in europe. and before you say i dont support either team.

The jealous GAA-mentality is out in force again.
No matter who wins the CL, be they English, German, Spanish, etc, it still makes no difference to Irish football, but it won't stop people here watching, writing, and even having an interest in it.

Whaaaaaaaattttttt????
Now, I'm no mathematician, but anyone who thinks a side currently 5th, and will probably be comfortably in the top 3 of 20 teams in a league by the time the game comes around, is in mid-table, needs an exam.

Nothing to do with jealousy of any sort. An english club doing well in Europe does have an impact on the game here. If I have to explain why you are dumber than you look.

Good luck Utd., Arsenal, Chel$ea and Liverpool. Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and French clubs winning in Europe does nothing for the Irish game.

You have failed to come up with a logical reason why an English or other club doing well in Europe has an impact here. That's because it doesn't. Any explanation lacks credibility from someone who hates English football as you do, and that's straight out of the GAA mindset.

Considering you dont know me that's quite a statement. Read my last post. Your very existence here lacks credibility. Go find a phonebook.
