with the results out in hours, see if you can predict which 12 teams will be in the premier division next season.

put the teams in alphabetical order at the top of your post, and then any comments underneath...

As you say the results are out in hours so it's pretty pointless considering that's what we've all been doing for the last year!!!

St.Pat's fans will love you for putting Kilkenny in there ahead of them. You can't really believe that's how it's going to play out?

What happens if two teams finish on even points?

We'll never know. The points aren't going to be announced. The FAI will add a point somewhere to their favourite team, I suppose.

I`m sticking with my prediction of the current 11 + rovers.

Our disgraceful seasons of 2003 (9th FD) + 2004 (8th FD) were always going to keep us down in my opinion.

Same as that . . . the current 11 Premier teams and Rovers. That's what I felt when I read the document back in May/June and my views haven't changed.

I think that's what it will be as well. That said, if I had my way I'd swap Waterford for Dundalk or Galway. I know it's based on 5 year results, but if the league is to be as competative as possible, the last two years should have been weighed higher- it's a joke that a club that performed as poorly as WUFC did and cleartly were not good enough should be included in the new league.

Oh, and it'll be an absolute farce if UCD are left out.

I was just thinking there. Let's assume that the current 11 Premier teams and Shamrock Rovers form the new Premier, that means the 9 clubs left in the First Division will be all from outside Dublin. And with a possible new team being from Wexford or possibly Mayo, there will be no trips to Dublin for any of the First Division teams in 2007.

The new premier will be:

Athlone Town
Bray Wanderers
Donegal Celtic
Linfield
Galway United
Galway United
Galway United
Shamrock Rovers
Galway United
Wexford County
Dundalk
Galway United

Or else the current 11 plus Rovers. Hard to say which exactly.

the only problem i have with that selection, is which galway united do i support. i personally think, gufc, rovers and dundalk will all be in the premiership next season, not sure who will go down though

So was everyone wrong?

And is it all over yet with word on RTE radio that Waterford outscored Galway but were still rejected?

feo123
11/12/2006, 5:23 PM
is that possible? why did they not get in if they out-scored galway?

Burnsie
11/12/2006, 9:07 PM
because the FAI explicitly reserved the right to depart from the recommendations of the IAG, i.e. they had the final say regardless of points totals

GUFC finished with 17 more points than waterford, des cahill should learn how to count before making stupid comments like that
