Huge clear out at the Showgrounds Dec 07, 8:27 am
Sligo Rovers held a press conference last night in the Radisson Hotel, Sligo to officially announce which players are leaving the club. There are nine players definetely leaving - they are Michael McNamara, Conor O’Grady, Paul McTiernan, Matthew Judge, Darren Mansaram, Sean Flannery, John O’Hara, Harpal Singh and John Bellew.

There is also a strong likelihood that influential centre halve Liam Burns will be leaving, he is currently in talks with two other Eircom League clubs and is likely to accept one of the offers.

On the staffing side Gareth Gorman has left as assistant manager, Leo Tierney will be staying as goal-keeping coach. Rovers manager Rob McDonald hopes to bring in a full time physio from Holland. He hopes to bring in as least seven to eight new players and is close to signing a keeper from outside of Ireland. Rovers will be back pre-season training on January 18th.

Confirmed Sligo Rovers Players 2007 Season: Richard Brush, Seamus Coleman, Gavin Peers, Keith Foy, Sean Kelly, Jamie McKenzie, Oisin Mannion, Gary Curran, Jason McCartney, Fahrudin Kudozovic, Adam Hughes, Chris Turner, Brian Cash, Choice Aisien

From Rovers website :

There is still some uncertainty about the future of Harpal Singh, who is under contract for another year with the club, but has indicated that he is home-sick and wishes to return to the Leeds area.

What you think lads, possibility/fear is we release him due to his home sickness and he magically reappers wearing Bohs colours or AN Other in the LOI come the start of next season.

The dog in the street knows Sean wants him at Bohs.

Would be a terrible kick in the face if that happened.

let him rot on the bench, or at least decompose for a year!!

I would guess he's one of top paid players from last season, so I dont think that would be a wise move. We cant afford to pay a player big bucks just to scratch his nuts.
He would be an asset to our way of playing next year. I hope Rob can convince him to give it one more try.
Conner was supposed to have a press conferance yesterday to announce his new signings. That was cancelled. I would guess the situation with Harpel could be a factor. He wants him at Bohs.
Why would the MC hold a press conferance and announce the names of players leaving the club, if it was not finalised and agreed? It dosn't make sense.

why the hell would you do that?harps is a quality player so if he's staying get him on the pitch.if he's not going to get a game let him go.i don't like this attitude towards harps because he's a top bloke who has never said a word against sligo rovers.he's also done a good job on the pitch for us so we have no right to begrudge him a move if he wants to go.

He is under contract, and a good player, so if he's going anywhere we should get a fee.

harpal is on €1100 as far as i know. i dunno why any would want him to rot on da bench but i dunno if he's worth such a large chunk of the budget.

At least we have Faz stayingNot sure if that's a good thing. Don't think he's fully up to it, but we'll have to wait and see if Rob can motivate him!

i heard from a friend of chris turner that he reckons he's learned more from mcdonald in a month than he learned in over a year under the other fella. sounds good. hopefully he can do likewise with players like faz
