Well, we've won again - three years running now. That very slight chance of a European slot again. Anyone seen a UEFA Fair Play table? Ireland haven't qualified for the last two years, but did qualify for the two years previous, so by the law of averages, we're due...

Are we? Does two successive years of failure not show a trend just as UCD keep up a trend of fair play?

Not necessarily this year. But sometime.
Two successive years of failure doesn't really show a trend, especially when you consider that the previous two years, Ireland were in the hat. Overall, we've been in it about 50% of the time since it started. On average, about 12 countries are going for two spots (plus the winners, who get a spot to themselves), so on that basis, we've a 1 in 12 chance. And have also failed to qualify on our previous two wins. So we're coming to a stage where we're due. :)

Here's hoping for a UEFA Cup spot. We've yet to play in that one , having graced the European Cup Winners Cup ( 1984/85) and the UEFA Intertoto Cup ( 2000/01) on our two previous forays into Europe.
