There's a rumour floating about in the rags that Liverpool are going to bid 1.6 million for Clarke in January. I know what people think of the tabloaids on this site but there's usually some amount of truth in their football gossip.

If it is true I'd rather see him stay at Ipswich for another season or two to see if he can establish himself as a regular scorer in the Championship before trying to move onto a Premiership team.

Liverpool wreck strikers. He needs a move to Anfield like he needs a hole in his head. Stay at Ipswich son and keep playing and learning.
I agree. I think this kid has lots of potential though. He looks to be more of a Kevin Doyle sort of striker (fast, skillful) than an out and out goalscorer. He was possibly the main star of the Ipswich FA Youth Cup winning team of 2005 (which also featured Garvan and Supple) though he did get injured and missed the final.

Along with Cathal Lordan, who scored the two goals in the first leg of the final and is now with the Cork City FC U21 squad.
Theo Walcott was playing for Southampton in that game.

Wouldn't read too much into it. Sure Arsenal were linked to Bowditch when he burston to the scene last year... and he's no where to be seen now.

Liverpool would ruin him. Stay at Ipswich and get a bit more experience. Sitting on the Liverpool bench would do him no good at all.

Liverpool would only want him as cover if Crouch and Garcia and Fowler and Bellamy got injuries ... he wouldn't get anywhere near their first team sadly.

Looks like it's worse than originally feared. Talk of him missing the entire season now.

AFAIR he was omitted from Blackpool's squad list, so I think he'll have to go out on loan if he wants to play before the end of the season

Russia? That's moving to a winter season though. ;)

The MLS only allows an overseas player in onloan if there's an option to buy, or if the player will stay for the full MLS season. So, a loan just to get fitness with intent to return for English preseason, is not an option.

Questionable penalty after Alan McCormack was adjudged to have brought down a Crawley player in the box. Clarke smashes it straight down the middle to make it 1-0.

Brilliant goal by Clarke yesterday to win the game 1-0 for Crawley. Think it's his 13th of the season. Good to see him doing well.

interview with football express about Bradford's cup run: http://www.footballexpressnews.com/10946/interview-bradford-city-striker-billy-clarke-on-the-clubs-fa-cup-run-and-more/#

Still only 27, what ambitions do you have for the future, I mean obviously playing in the Championship again would be up their wouldn’t it? I would love to play at the top level again, short term, I would love to get promoted and play in the Championship with Bradford. My dream is to play for Ireland, I loved playing for U21’s and it would be my dream to represent my country.

First goal since his recent move to Charlton, coming on as a sub to equalise against Exeter - I make that ten goals by Irish players tonight - a big improvement over Saturday

Brief update on Clarke's progress: https://www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/5af2d51f78d72/from-the-treatment-room-fosu-back-in-training-and-a-return-time-for-billy-clarke-pencilled-in

Billy Clarke is also progressing well with his ongoing strength exercises. It is hoped that he could start some outdoor running drills next week, if planned strength tests show that he has enough strength and control in his left knee.
All being well, the Addicks’ number 10 should be involved in the conditioning elements of the squad’s pre-season preparations, though he will not be ready for a full return to match-play until the beginning of September.
