Andy Robinson has quit as coach of world champions England after a disastrous 25-month spell in charge. The 42-year-old, who succeeded Sir Clive Woodward in October 2004, lost 13 of his 22 games in the job. More (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/rugby_union/english/6185090.stm)

Seemed like the RFU were waiting for him to resign so they wouldn't have to compensate him.

Engalnd are shockingly bad & very few decent players. New coach may not make a difference but can't be any worse.

More like they were giving him a bigger amount to go quietly. According to the BBC he was given the "resign or be sacked" ultimatum on Sunday, and have been negotiating the deal since apparently.

From what I was reading the deals on the table for either option (resignation or dismissal) were quite similar and possibly identical.

Hence the reason it took a few days to get rid of him. He dug his heels in while his solicitors negotiated a better deal for him.

lads england have loads of players , a lot of them are quality
they just need a decent manager and they will be back challenging france regularly for the 6 nations and getting to world cup semi's

heres hoping they don't get a decent manager!! :-)

They don't have a good squad. Very very average. Throughout the league you have players not good enough for their international sides playing in key positions for the top English sides (Leo Cullen, Jeremy Staunton etc)

Their halfbacks are awful and they have no leaders on the pitch
