I'll be a Cliftonville supporter for the day, but just with a few beers in front of the TV. ;)

Not attending the game, but offer my best wishes to Cliftonville on this occassion.

BTW, what a stupid decision to house the Reds fans in the South Stand - should of had them in the Alex Russell.

All those empty seats are going to look great on TV! But no one should be surprised when it comes to the IFA.

Thanks for all the support but is it not more a case of ABTG? :)

How long did it take for you to think that up? Rovers having no home ground has nothing to do with it.

About three secords after reading your post.

Better to be soulless than homeless.:)

PS: Watched any footage of Northern Ireland games at Windsor recently?

Ask the English and Spanish players if they thought it was "soulless";) :D

It's a shame, about the trouble, cause it was a reasonable quality game of football.

Mr_Parker
05/12/2006, 8:37 AM
Yep the troublemakers were a disgrace. There are also serious questions being asked about the policing after the game. btw the numbers involved are exagerated. 1 is too many however less than 100 were involved. As for the so called hijacking, one wag stole the keys from a lorry and ran off, it certainly was no hijacking!

What questions are there on policing. I have seen Cliftonville supporters complaining because they were in riot gear saying this is somehow provocative. Looks like they were right to be prepared in this way to me.

What questions are there on policing. I have seen Cliftonville supporters complaining because they were in riot gear saying this is somehow provocative. Looks like they were right to be prepared in this way to me.

The main question many are asking is why were they permitted to park their cars beyond the tunnel towards Glenmachan Street only to find a wall of riot police preventing them from returning to their cars when they came out. The police were telling supporters that they would have to do a 4 mile walk to get to their cars which were only parked a few yards away? Heated exchanges started taking place, mean while those intent on trouble were given their excuse to start on the police. Fans continued to stream out onto the road from the game with more and more argueing with police about getting back to their cars by which stage for some they were met with the response of a batton or a dog handler.

In the pre-match meetings the police had agreed that there would be no parking on that part of the road, yet they failed to even put out a traffic cone.

This does not excuse the behaviour of those who started the trouble but the police failures inflamed the situation.

So, do you think people who indulge in unprovoked, wreckless acts of vandalism inside a football ground, were just walking home peacefully until they saw the horrific sight of PSNI officers in riot gear?

Or, do you think some of them might have been "up for it" ie. looking for a continuation of their days' wrecking?

Yes I have no doubt they were up for it and when they got out of the ground and saw people already engaged in 'heated' to put it mildly, exchanges with police because they couldn't get to their cars they got their chance. As I said I condemn their actions.

Slagging apart there is nothing wrong with le cop Sportif tops, discounted baseball caps and Reebok Classics although i nor any of my friends would wear these brands, but did you really stop on the way home and go to Iceland ? Now that is naff NY you know Kerry McFaden or now Kerry Katona as she is known fronts an ad campaign for them try hyper value next time your up it is just as cheap as well so dont worry mate. ;) Also if you want to splash out on some new clobber for yourself i hear TK Max or TK Maxx is a place where you can get money off labels. ;) No Problem mate glad i could help.

I dont wear that garbage and none of the Rovers fans there sat were either. Give up the glue please.

Anyway the CAS semi has been put back to December 20th.

If you think NY Hoop is a hoolie then your sad stereotyping is even more pathetic than at first glance.

As for the Sligo eejit, in my experience it's the clubs from culchie towns like Dundalk, Limerick and yes, Sligo that attract the hordes of unwashed scrots in LCS and Reebok.

Forgive me for being ever so slightly annoyed when there are thousands of pounds worth of damage done to my club's ground by people in the section NY Hoop is jokingly referring to. Rovers fans have been attending Cliftonville games up here for years and causing trouble, that is not generalisation, that is fact.

"Stupid"? Yeah, like your generalisation of Rovers fans previously.

Anyway, I now look forward to the moneys fans of LFC are demanding for damage being forwarded to GFC for similar damage (minus costs for 'sticker damage' and '****-related seat discolouration').

I trust you'll be endorsing that.

Different scenario as you well know, you really do need to wise up. We rented our ground out and the game was under the control of someone else. When the seats were damaged at the Oval (as disgraceful as that was) it was for a Glentoran game that Glentoran were in control of in much the same way that we were in control of the league game that Justin McBride was sent off in. Therefore Glentoran received the same amount of compensation from us as we did for the McBride game. Only but fair? ;)

We will wait and see who exactly is culpable for last Saturday's disgraceful post-match "powercut" when the IFA 'de-brief' on Monday.

Stanley Chan

****** mr Browne....being an upstanding member of the Linfield Community you will know that the agreement between Glentoran and Linfield was that when a league game was invovled, any supporters who do damage to a ground pay for the damage. That means as we done damage to Windsor on mcBride day we pay for the damage and we honoured that agreement!

On the 23rd April Linfield did not honour their agreement for paying for the damage, which will not be fixed until Glentoran recieve payment, be it from Linfield FC or their sugar daddies IFA.

In Cup games whoever held either semi final, be it Linfield or Glentoran they paid for the damage.

On saturday, the damage done to South and Kop stands, that was similar reasons to why Glentoran FC refused the use of grounds for neutral games last year to the IFA (somethign your fans give us a lot of stick over). A club only gets a couple of hundred pounds rental fee for holding a semi final which they are not invovled in, but it is their liability insurance which cover the games, not the IFA's, the Glens objected to this and were happy to see them go elsewhere as the money recieved hardly covered the electric bill for the games.

Kinda blows your theory outta the water big lad, though Im sure they'll be another spin on it, but lets not let the FACTS get in the way of things eh!
