Say No more boss...Its SUMMERVILLE ROVERS...Brand new state of the art clubhouse..New pitch in the horizon(much needed..we will be going from the worst pitch in town to the best in the next year or so)...Excellent schoolboy setup and 3 teams in the junior league and all going well in there leagues ..The future is bright the future is SUMMERVILLE ROVERS!!! Add them all together and then see who comes out top but remember its not about winning cups and leagues just about the best run club

id say pike+fairview they have the two best pitchs+clubhouses in town boro had a good one but seems to have being let to be run down for the last couple of years+plus they rent out part of their pitch now as well

what about purely training facilities.....................

alot of clubs have to pay good money to other bodies such as LIT / Villiers/ UL etc to rent them weekly...... maybe a bit of investment would pay off and clubs could actually rent out their own facilities to generate income to better the club and therefor soccer as opposed to paying for other clubs/bodies facilities. eg astro turf/ lights etc. ??????????????????????????

I suppose I would consider Pike the best run club in town and if they restore the schoolboys and youths to what they were years ago, they will be a super example of what a football club should be.

In My own opinion Murroe would be the best run club at the moment in Limerick

Pitch: two excellent pitches
Clubhouse: Club house to meet the clubs needs and also the needs of the community
Dressing rooms: Superb dressing rooms
Car parking: Ample parking for home and away teams
All weather training facilities: Superb Floodlit all weather playing surface
Supporters: When see they are vocal
Sponsors: Dont know but as the club is debt free its a small point
involvement with the local community: Excellent involvement
Schoolboy/ Girl setup: One of the strongest in the league
Youth Setup: Dont know
Active and inclusive committee: Very active very forward seeing committee
Good dicipline: Good both on and off the field

Pitch closest to clubhouse in Murroe is very poor. Huge slope down to one corner. Apart from that, excellent set up.

Dazzler,what club are you involved with? you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about the boro.. if you recall pike shared with abbey a few seasons ago,where they stuck for cash???? i doubt it.Boro have 2 PITCHES,Boro are giving carew park the use of their Second pitch as carew are homeless at the moment. it has nothing to do with money...(rent being paid by organisation that took carews pitch from them)other clubs turned them down.. Both pitches are in top condition if a bit soft at the moment,other remidial work is presentley being carried out and other improvement will take place when the weather conditions improve.Dressing rooms are 3years old and top notch.On the financial side, The club has zero debt and rseources available to carry out any improvements that the co'mitte see fit. doubt if many clubs in any sport in limerick are on as sound financial footing as the boro.

Id agree with you that Corbally Utd have absolutely excellent facilities. Well done to them! You mention them being short a bar. Now maybe this should be for a whole new thread but I dont agree. I dont think soccer clubhouses are the proper place for a bar. Ok I might sound mad, its a great money spinner, especially if you have a function room, (eg Pike, Boro), but theres something that just doesnt sit well with a soccer club floggin drink to people to pay for the promotion of sport?

you couldn't be further from the truth...having a bar is the worst thing for a club...the amount of work that goes into the day to day running of a licensed premises you wouldn't believe, aks any publican, I know one club that would close their bar in the morning if they could.:ball:

pike is financially safe and sure the fairview are as well boro club is a bit old looking outside but kept well

Sees it, would you not think that if ex-players want to stay involved with a club, they would be better off
1. getting involved on the committee, I know of a lot of clubs who are basically being run by the same handful of people all the time, people do get tired!

2 Coaching underage teams or junior teams, we all know its hard to find good coaches!

3 Helping out with fundraising, I dont know of any club that doesnt need money! and when it comes to fund-raising its always a case of the more involved the merrier. Many hands make light work, etc.

Propping up a bar might put a few pence into a clubs coffers now and again, but its not really doing the club any good is it?

bar the pitches,corbally have by far the best set up in the league.if they didnt have 20 odd teams they might be able to get the pitches in better nick.they have a class astroturf,parking for around 1oo cars and very good dressing rooms.pike and fairview a close 2nd and 3rd for me

Pike's impressive FAI junior cup haul of late is a real testiment to how well they're structured and run.......

Nominations for F.A.I. national club of the month awards for October and November close on December 4th.
Maybe some of the clubs mentioned should try and get themselves nominated for an award. I think the first step would be to have a look at the nomination form on www.fai.ie
Then I think to contact the league secretary and seek a nomination.
Now with the deadline almost up, (next Monday), maybe the following months would be easier to arrange a nomination for.
The nomination needs to be endorsed by the league and provincial secretary's, and it would need a good club history/profile to be put together, possibly along with some letters of support etc. In other words a good bit of paperwork. Anyway full details on www.fai.ie
