English striker Paul Beavers has joined Shelbourne until the end of the season after impressing in two trials at the Tolka Park club and could be in line for a debut against Longford Town at Flancare Park on Saturday night.

Beavers, whose previous clubs include Sunderland, Oldham and Darlington, has been tormented with several injury worries in recent years, including a troublesome Achilles injury that curtailed his time at Andy Ritchie’s Oldham Athletic two years ago.

But he has apparently been successful in putting his injury nightmare behind him, and will go straight into the Shels squad for this weekend’s trip to Longford Town.

Fenlon told the club’s official website: “We had Paul over for training last month and he impressed us. We’ve had another look at him this week and we’ve now signed him for the remainder of the season.”

The 25-year-old becomes the second striker to touch down at Tolka this month after the arrival of former Bohemians, Finn Harps and Dundalk front man Alex Nesovic from English Unibond League side Barrow three weeks ago.

For anyone thats interested the Unibond League is like the 8th division in England!!

AFAIK (courtesy of Ceefax) the Conference & Ryman leagues as well as a couple of other non-leagues are abpove the Unibond.

Level below the Conference - 3 leagues feed into the conference..... so it's like Division 5 North......
