Lawlor in line for Wanderers start

Graham Lawlor is in line to make his first start for Bray Wanderers against Cork City at the Carlisle Grounds tonight (kick-off 7.45pm) after completing his move from Shamrock Rovers earlier in the week.

Lawlor could slot straight into the attack in an attempt to finally get Bray back amongst the goals. In the absence of injured top scorer Jason Byrne in recent weeks, Bray have found goals extremely hard to come by, failing to register at all in their past four games.

On the plus side, they recovered well from a spanking at the hands of Bohs a fortnight ago to completely dominate against St Patrick’s Athletic last Friday, but despite the best efforts of their super-young strike force they were unable to convert their superiority into three points.

Eamon Zayed (19) is likely to keep his place, but 17-year-old John Flood might be the one to lose out should Lawlor come into the attack. Manager Pat Devlin will be keep to prevent his young star from experiencing too much football too early in his promising career.

Devlin is still without several first-team regulars in addition to Byrne, with defenders Jody Lynch and Maurice Farrell unavailable and midfield pair Thomas Morgan and Eddie Gormley also on the treatment table.

Cork manager Liam Murphy will give fitness tests to Alan Bennett and Declan Daly, who only returned to the side three weeks ago after missing the first part of the season.

They broke a sequence of five matches without a win with a narrow triumph over struggling Drogheda United last week, but their away from still gives plenty cause for concern: they have yet to win away from Turners Cross, having drawn four and lost four outside the Rebel County this season so far.
