So who would you think will leave. Who would you like to leave and indeed who would you like to join ?

I'll get the ball rolling. I don't think we're strong enough in midfield or out on the wings. We conceded 41 goals so far in 29 games and only Waterford
(57) and Bray (63) have conceded more. Cork only conceded 14 goals so far so that tells us alot. Usually the finger is pointed at the defence but i think that time and time we were over run in midfield.

Hughes is an ordinary player. Foy remains suspect to a player with pace and Faz and Singh just don't deliver enough into the box.

I think its very important that we try and hold on to O'Hara and I would love to see Raf come back.

O'Hara is more than likely heading back to America to play footie there. His family are there.

jonners family arent in the states boy. his brother is at clemson university in georgia, quality centre half, but thats it. he has an american g/f alright, and wants to go play mls. he was gonna do so before but the team that took him, had their full quota of overseas players. as far as i know, hes going back to play mls next season......He's defo leaving Rovers anyway. As I said, his family are there. His brother and that girlfriend you mentioned is now his wife so therefore yes, his family are there.

he's right, conor might be leaving because rob wants all of the players to go full time and conor is not really on for that.

Foy signed new contract before Bray game. Good squad member. If McDonald is looking for 2 players for every position, then Foy is good back up for left full. most of the Sligo boys could be gone, McNamara (not gonna go full time, work commitments, GAA looms large), O' Grady (unlikely to go full), McT (not gonna go full, has pub to run), Flannery (work commitments). I hear McDonald is after Dave Rodgers as assistant/player manager. They worked played together in Holland. Turner will follow Sean 'I'm ambishish' Connor to Bohs. Here's hoping we hold on to Burns.

He only trained once a day, full timers had sessions morning and evening under Connor.Oh right. I was under the impression that only McNamara and O'Grady were the part-timers. I remember reading that in the weekender one day.

Mc Tiernan is gone as well with alot of the names mentioned here, all over the full time issue. Heard he was on full time wages but was only training part time.

I hear McDonald is after Dave Rodgers as assistant/player manager. They worked played together in Holland.

From yesterdays Indo:

Dave Rogers, who has been a professional for 16 years and played for Tranmere Rovers and Dundee before joining his present club, Shelbourne, has a more cynical take on players' contracts: "Contracts don't mean anything these days," he says. "If a club wants you they'll keep you, and if a player doesn't want to stay he won't."

Rogers, who was celebrating a third League title in four seasons on Friday night, added: "I've two years left on my contract and I don't want to go anywhere, but if someone comes in for me there's not much I can do if the club want me to move on."

Rumours i've heard,

players out; John O'Hara (not a rumour), Mac, Faz, O'Grady, Singh, Mansaram, McT.

players staying; Burns (have my doubts unfortunately), Turner

I think Burns is staying, according to a source in the media they are to make him captin. He's looking to get involved in the coaching end of things. None of this is confermed. Would be great if he was to stay

foyzer can be the best left back in the country if he wants to.
all he needs is someone to motivate him.
sean connor was good at it until he realised that he was leaving.
hopefully rob can do it too.

id like to see us sign michael keogh (remember him?) from killester
he would be brilliant and could play well with aisien imo
not sure if he could last the rigours of a whole season but he looks very promising

Mathew Judge and Bellew alos gone...

So thats O'Hara,McNamara,O'Grady,Flannery,Judge,Bellew,McTi ernan and if rumours be true Singh,Turner,Mansaram and Burns....

Sad to see these lads go but work committmenst must come firts, in saying that you would never have said O'Grady and Mcnamara were part timers if you had never seen rovers play before and we will be hard pressed to get better even if they were allowed to stay on as squad players and show what they could do.Why not give them one year and then say lads it not working as part timers

Good point Alan i suppose in time Rob might think he is acting a bit too hasty but he wants to put his own mark on the club and good luck to him.

We finished 5th in our first season back and made it to the semi finals. I'm backing Rob, but i reckon he should hold fire on ditching McT and O'Grady. Those lads have given great service and deserve a chance even if it's not suitable for them to go full time.

Rob is taking a gamble in his approach but lets hope in the few months he has to draft in replacements he can do the needy.
