Something needs doing

We need a plan

This Saturday suit everyone?? (Deckie I'm looking in your direction)

Totally open to to suggestions on time/venue etc....

Maybe even *gulp* invite one of the Rovers lads down in the near future to give us some ideas

Sorry, I realise this message is pretty incoherent but if I'm honest I don't even no where to start, I just know something needs starting :(

im not been smart here but what good is having meetings between supporters whats it going to change at the club. the meeting is hardly going to get the lease signed. its pretty bad if supporters are having meeting to sort out limerick have limerick a commitee. lim til i die im not having a go at you i really feel sorry for the likes of you who supports the club week in week out but i think we need to step back and look at the bigger picture here.

I relise meetings can be a big massive pile of hot air

But I hope that by having a meeting with maybr some expertise brought in from a club in similar circumstances we could maybe look at a supporters takeover of the club, or at least a trust being formed to help the club  :(

Just a couple of ideas, maybe will help put some direction on all the real supporters good intentions.

1) Have our meeting prior to last game of season, this gives some time to generate the media interest, also gives a landmark date - ie could be last ever game...

2) The FAI now have a Volunteer Education Unit. We could invite the Unit Manager, Liam McGroarty, down and he can arrange the experts we need to guide us on the best way to organise a SC, and what an active SC can actually do for the club.

3) Involving the FAI at that level will also force questions to be answered by them regarding Lease, might clear that up from their end.

4) I agree that fielding amatuers and losing is better than not existing at all, but for this to work, ground issue needs to be sorted - see point 3.

5) Future under-age involvement. Limerick FC gets active in Coach Education in Limerick,co-ordinating with RDO Denis Hynes, and FAI Education Manager, Paul Hammil, and gets the coaches to train with U13 Kennedy Cup, U18 Oscar Traynor, Secondary Schools, Development Squads. There are obvious problems regarding e.g.Limerick FC in Limerick U16 Premier league, who will play us? Local clubs won't, and we would be targeting the top players in the area, so clubs won't stand for that either.

6) Womens football - get involved in this and increase active members in the Club. Very few EL clubs remain that don't realise the link here.

7) O'Neills - No replica kits,no casual gear for fans. I know a supplier that would love to get active in EL. Also, lets have Limerick FC supporters T-Shirts etc, make us a visual entity. No more Orchard Harvest, or whatever that old logo was.

Sorry for going on a bit. Can anyone that wants to, reply on any of my points - O.G.

I will be at the meeting, if I can help it at all!! I think we should look at 5pm on Saturday 18th of November. We should ask the Quality Hotel to sort us a Meeting Room. I would be against the idea of doing this in a Pub. We invite the FAI down and they can advise us on how to organise a SC, or 400 Club, and give information on the roles of committee members. We can then all head to Hogan Park together and scream the shed (or any part of ground)down at the last home game of season.

Anyone interested in Limerick FC T-Shirt, "Save Limerick FC" or along those lines, can get them done before meeting

Meeting:

Time: 5pm
Venue: Quality Hotel
Date: Sat 18th November

Love to be at this meeting but Sorry Guys won't be able to make it away for weekend in Dublin to see the Boss in Concert on Sat Night.

Best of Luck with the meeting but I feel that this will be settled at a higher level than SC or Fans Meeting.

I wont be going lads. I just feel id be saddled with all the work again and if a new group come in to take over the club id want to know who it/they were before committing. I for example could not work with anyone involved in the irish cartel which exist in the irish domestic game.

You could always say no if you're asked to get involved then surely? That's hardly a reason not to attend.

It won't be the same without you. Your feedback would be appreciated.

Anyway, if gael's not going then neither am I, who's with me? ;)

Iv said before id like to assist anyone who wants to take chairmanship for next year, but whats involved? All of gaels points are valid, however i still think you should go, if only to have a drink before our last game of the season/ever!
B.T.W. is the Athlone game on the saturday or what?

Originally from Lim Till I die
(See Nempton, I've taken your point and am being alightly pro-active )

Glad to see your working hard :)

Finalise where and when the meeting will be on and contact all local media asking them to attend. Also if you can get a large turnout, preferably in their Limerick FC gear, ask for a photographer.

You need someone to chair the meeting so it can be kept under control and keep the focus on the issue, too many people might go off on a tangent venting their anger instead of helping to come up with a solution. Plus make sure you can get someone to take minutes of the meeting along with names & contact numbers for everyone.

Also use this opportunity to elect a new committee for the Supporters Club (preferably towards the end of the meeting). A fresh start is needed and I've heard rumblings of certain things that have gone which I'm not happy about. This isn't the place to discuss but I'll give you a ring during the week.

And finally, I cannot promise anything but I hoping to fly in Saturday if possible for the meeting. I won't know until closer to the weekend.

Seriously mate come over for a drinking session by all means, but last I heard that meeting wasn't going ahead, and I haven't heard any change since then. If someone is able to correct me on this then do so by all means, but don't drag yourself over from London for the sole reason of that meeting Nempton

Is the meeting going ahead lads. I might be able to give some answers as how we keep going when it is hard get people involved. Will be there in Limerick early on Saturday

Monkfish

Ok lads time to put this thread back on top, all this talk about borats cousins coming over to play with daft danny is getting out of hand so lets try and deal with a real issue. Its clear those who could at least properly organise this are not interested, fact is with all thats going on around the club at the moment the meeting would probably run on for 3 hours plus and we'd still probably get no-where. You know the crack lads, same few arguing and complaining, yet for most of them, they probably only went to a handful of games all year.
In my view, 1 thing needs sorting, a new commitee. So would someone please tell me the conditions on which we can change this? who and how many need to be there?

Nempton
15/11/2006, 10:12 AM
I agree with Monkfish's sentiment. We need to keep the focus on the issue. Saying that Jebus, depending on how things go if I can I might fly in Saturday for some golf and pints.

Lim Till I Die and SLK - Can you confirm where and when the meeting is taking place and notify as many people as possible.

In regards to the Supporters Club it has to hold an annual meeting anyway to elect a new committee so there is reason outside the current situation to be holding this (to generate more interest it should open to the public).

Also the Supporters Club have to, as they have done in the past, produce a report highlighting the financial situation of the club and what has been done in the past year. I expect it will be made available at the last match against Athlone. As a paid member I want to know everything thats gone on.

I can make the meeting from about 6.15pm onwards, cos I have to finish work and then drive to whatever venue it's held at, depending on traffic of course as I'll be driving from Dooradoyle. Can't make it any earlier than that, sorry. If yer having a meeting it'd be good to have neutral viewpoints like those offered from the Athlone and Galway fans, was there also suggestions of getting someone from FAI, Shamrock Rovers as well? Not sure how possible that is at this stage time wise, and seeing that these other clubs are playing on Sat night as well, but would be good to have at the meeting...

The term 'don't hold your breath' comes to mind with that report mate. Either way I can make a meeting on saturday or sunday at anytime, and I can certainly fit you in for a whooping at golf if you make it over Nempton :D

The supporters club had 3 paid members this year. You weren't one of them.

And I personally won't be able to attend either game or meeting on Saturday alas.

Sorry SLK, I thought when I was home for the Cobh match earlier this year that I renewed my membership. So were the three paid up members yourself, Lim Till I Die and Damien? Why was their a low turnout for membership?

Surely one of you, as committee members, could produce an annual report for the year and also highlight a date and place for a public meeting hosted by the Supporters Club. You can distribute around the ground (I know you are not around that day) especially when there is a free entry and hopefully a higher than normal crowd turning up.

sadloserkid
17/11/2006, 11:58 AM
Why was their a low turnout for membership?

Because out of the 200+ membership forms distributed only 1 was returned. Nobody got involved from day 1 and the Supporter's club was a shambles all year. Rolling stones gathers no members as well as no moss it seems. I've no intention of getting involved in any kind of official capacity next year and sadly I'd be surprised if there's problems filling the committee again. Only one of the three elected officers actually sought nomination this year you'll remember.

I take it that there's no meeting/gathering of any sorts so lads?
