Firstly I would never give out about a player who misses a penalty (unless he does it again & again). John O'Flynn had the guts to take it in front of nearly 8000 people who expected a goal. But the problem is that our best chance - one of only a few shots on target in the whole game - came about half way through the second half from a penalty. I'd say Devine had more to do last night than Gough.

Billy Woods didn't look right at all. Did he get a knock before the game or during it?

Hoggie was thrown straight in after missing 6 games or so.

Just to make it even more painfull, in less than a month (since we beat Shams), we have gone from second in the league by 2 points with a game in hand and looking forward to a cup semi to third by 11 points with a game in hand and out of the cup. Our season is in the gutter.

Billy took a tumble early on in front of my (!) stand, near the Shed End, and appeared to injure his knee/lower thigh. Had a few good runs after that but when walking appeared to be 'carrying' the leg... a pity, JOF needed his supply. Derry were laughing following Billy's departure, we offered no other threat afterwards...

A lot of CCFC players from last night should have a good look in the mirror this morning, IMO.

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose - mar a deirtear!

was listening to BBC radio coverage on the net- they mentioned Billy picking up a knock in the first half, and seemed upbeat about his departure from a derry point of view.

I thought Billy had a good first half.

He was taking people on and beating them. His crosses were good ( despite some other opinions elswhere ). They were right into the middle of the box and away from their 'keeper. The problem was there was no one there to take advantage of these.
More often than not the ball flew out the other side - not Woodsie's fault.

Imagine if we had a big guy for JOF to play off of, aka Quinn & Keane, Heskey & Owen etc.

Woods has been critisised recently for some of his away form which is fair enough. But the guy needs the ball. Any winger needs the ball to perform and if the thing flys over him or past him all the time then, of course he'll drift in and out ( probably looking for the damm thing ). He has been brilliant at home when he has been given the ball.

It's down to one thing - the tactics. Keep the ball and play it low.

I saw Woods limlping for a while in the first half after a challenge but he seemed to run it off. However could see he was struggling at ther start of the 2nd half & was a good decision he sub him even if we didn't really have any real replacement.

Greg has now played right back, left back, right midfield, centre midfield & now left midfield.
