1. You agreed to postpone a game 6 days ahead of your European tie with Gretna. You didnt have to agree to that.
I thought they did have to agree to that. Drogheda requested the postponement and the league agreed, so Derry were given no choice but to go along with it.

but Derry's lack of creativity will always hinder them when they can't bully teams
Seriously? Are you suggesting we win most of our matches purely through bullying the opposition? It has absolutely nothing to do with us being able to play decent football?

Also, what do Derry fans want? There's so many games to be played in x amount of time. It has to be done. Why are you making it out like an injustice has been carried out against you?
Only one City fan mentioned that in this thread...no need for the plural.
Its a hectic schedule yeah but it sure beats the sh!t out of playing for mid table respectablilty infairness. So I'd stab a guess that the vast majority of City fans aren't overly bothered by the run-in - its kinda of nice to be in the position we're in.
That complexion being?
Had mcHugh not been sent-off we might have won the match. Had Fitzpatrick not been flagged offside then Drogs might have scored, therefore they cud have won. Had the ref sent-off the Drogs player who nearly kilt Farren it may have helped our cause. And finally had the ref sent the drogs player who nearly took McGlynns leg off then it wud give us a stronger chance of winning. these questionable decisions were given against both sides, not just us. Just another poor display from the ref

did he call the cops in on garto then??
Mite aswell have done!!:p Add in the fact that he had a head injury and the ref didnt stop the game. that's some refereeing eh...

McKeon's officiating was pretty awful. Set the tone well when he gave Drogs a goal kick after Farren had knocked it off a Drogs defender. Continued the theme after about 15 minutes when he refused to give City a free after a blatant foul on the left wing but conviently balanced if off by awarding a corner when a Drogheda goal kick was the right call.
Ignored several shouts for handball too, one in particular when a Drogheda player blocked the ball with an arm which was above his head
Some truly bemusing and frustrating decisions for both sets of fans and that's regardless of the McHugh incident because I didn't see it. I'm not about to start another 'Woe is the city' diatribe because that neatly overlooks the fact that we didn't play particuarly well. It's just more shambolic refereeing which is yet again undermining the league.

Look I don't want to have a go at Derry as you've had a great season so far, all I'm saying is that in the games I've seen Derry play so far this season(granted it's only a handful) they haven't impressed me as a footballing team, but have impressed as a team who's hard to beat. Playing McCourt out wide speaks for itself imop
We are being punished for being successful, the league made us play a huge amount of games in a space of time, not many teams cud do that.
You postponed games too easily & some the Drogs game from last week should have been played in JULY. Also you took far too long to re-arrange the Shels game you playing next week. I would have sympathy if you had made effort to play those games. Come back to me when the eL forces you to play an FAI Cup game 2 days afer travelling back from euorpean game which happened us.

AFAIK both clubs have to agree to a postponement if it is requested within 14days of the fixture. The game in July was postponed a week or so before it was due to take place from what I recall.

1. You agreed to postpone a game 6 days ahead of your European tie with Gretna. You didnt have to agree to that.
2. Derry were one of the better teams to watch earlier in the season but last night they didnt know how to break down Drogheda. One good clear chance in 90 minutes is a poor return.
3. There was no questionable decisions by Dave McKeon last night. I didnt see the whole 90 minutes [saw about 70 minutes of the game] and he got everything pretty much spot on. Derry got very lucky with 4 offsides given against Drogheda. 0
4. Drogheda defended from 1st minute to last and Derry had loads of possession but it was all outside the Drogheda penalty area. Any team can look good with tons of possession but Derry did very little with it to trouble Dan Connor.
5. Derry havent just got on with it. There have been several newspaper interviews with Stephen Kenny were he claims Derry are being asked to undertake an unprecedented run of games [which is bullsh1t because Kenny landed Bohs with a much worse run in 2003 for the exact same reason]. If Derry had re-arranged the first postponement with Drogheda earlier during the summer and not agreed to postpone the game in August you'd have 2 less games to fit in. Thats down to the decison made by your manager and board. Not the league.
Pretty much spot on btid.
1: McHugh's sending off was a nothin incident. They both clashed and the Drogs player went down as if he was poleaxed. I was in line and seen it. The linesman obviously saw Gartland go down and assumed the rest.
Let's see if when someone gives you an elbow in the face if you then call it a "nothing incident"
One final piece of advice - cut the "text speak" out - I have enough trouble trying to understand your posts as it is...

Hold on Reiteoir. RTE didn't have footage of the incident. You weren't at the game. So you have no idea what happened do you? There you go again with the speculation.

How do you work that out? I could have swore Bohs went out in the 2nd qualifying round? You got to the 1/4 finals of the League Cup and the Semi's of the FAI Cup? Maybe as bad..but how do you think "much worse"?

Derry should ask themselves why some of their players can't pass a ball 10 yards or why, when another team matches them physically, they struggle. Watching the game last night I can understand why Derry fans are annoyed with the ref as we've all be in situations with our own clubs where we think the ref is totally against us, but Derry's lack of creativity will always hinder them when they can't bully teams
Agree totally with this.
Some of my fellow Derry fans are in cuckoo land and seem to have problem with someone criticising their team or individual players. As I said before without Molloy, Derry get bullied in midfield. In big eircom league games there are certain Derry players who hide when man marked and seem only to be able to do it against the weaker teams in the league.

Firstly lads, there was no elbow, McHugh caught the Drogheda player by the collar and push him to the ground, still a sending off but not as dramatic or violent as some (who didn't even see it) are claiming.
Other than that I thought Drogheda defended well as they always do and we huffed and puffed without really creating anything major.
Fair result.
Have to agree with Lofty9, without Molloy in our midfield we are not the same team, we had no ball winner and our passing was awful.
For the Shels game we should play with Molloy and Higgins in the centre and Deery/McGlynn on the right, Brennan/McCourt on the left.

Kenny started whinging when Derry had 16 games to play in the following 64 days.
In 2003 Bohs played UCD on August 29th. It was the first of 23 games in 94 days which became 25 games in 94 days as a result of Two cup replays. We played the final 16 games in 57 days, so it was as many games in a week less - much worse scenario. Also over an extended time we played games at the same rate of 2 per week for a longer time.

Sorry Kristic but I saw it. He violently hit him in the face, not a simple push.
The linesman was directly in line with it (mind you I have no idea why he was standing there). A push to the ground is not necessarily a red card but a punch or elbow is.
The strangest thing is that's not really the form of McHugh but if he gets a three match ban then I think Dodgy Dave has decided its violent conduct.

I was in block 'C' right in line with incident.
The ref had started heading back up the pitch.
You , if with the other Drogs fans, were in block 'A' right in the corner, the defenders back would have blocked you from getting a clear view.
McHugh turned, they both had words and McHugh grabbed his jersey pushing him to the ground, as i said a sending off none the less.
I don't know if the linesman actually witnessed the incident or did he just see the Drogheda player hit the deck.
