Just wondering how many people would be interested in doing a weekend trip to kilkenny for our last game of the season. The way the league is going it might not be decided until then. The game is currently fixed for Saturday november 18 at 730.
Kilkenny is a busy city at the weekend so a central b&b would have to be booked well in advance. It would be nice to celebrate winning the league in style!

I'm looking at flying over from London for the weekend. However, what is the likelihood of the eircom League scheduling all games for the same time on the last night? Is this likely to mean a Sunday afternoon kickoff?

I'd be worried about that too. maybe someone could clarify this as nothing can be booked if we dont know the dates for sure.

Would be interested alright, when the date and time is for certain

The games involving the top three clubs are all already scheduled for that
Saturday night anway. Last season the final games in the First Division season were scheduled for a Saturday night.
I haven't heard anything about a change in dates, it would be extremely unlikely and pointless.

I'd say we'll all stay overnight unless UTD actually won the league down there. Then it would be a case of get back to Galway asap to celebrate i would have thought myself.

It would have to be booked in advance if we were going to stay down, If we could get an idea how many would be interested then we could check out b&b prices and bus for the weekend.
We went on a weekend trip down there years back and it was great craic.
I'd be well up for a weekend down there.

I'll try to get a list of those who definitely intend to travel tomorrow and see where we stand. One night B&B will be at least €50. The bus will be pricey for the weekend, any ideas how much ConorH ?

I've booked the whole weekend off from work so will definitely be there.
Depending on whether it's a title decider or not I may even go to Galway from the trip down!!!

No sorry.I'll find out though.PD might have a rough estimate as we did the same for Cobh last year.

There will be a bus/buses going down to Kilkenny anyway on the Saturday,
so anyone interested in staying over would just have to hire a bus to take the group back on Sunday. I will discuss possible prices with you tomorrow night.
I would love to stay down. However, its more than likely that we will be bringing a large crowd down from Galway, so will probably go back with them.

As i said if we win the league down there i'll be coming back too.No point staying in Kilkenny on Galway's biggest night:ball:

Ironically, if we in a mid-table position, staying over in Kilkenny would be the weekend of the year
talking about driving down and up that night, especially if we win the league, but i wish this thread hadnt started already, still a long way to go and nothing won yet.

Am told that the EL definitely won't be changing kick-off times and dates for the last series of games in the First Division.
However, if the title is to decided on any previous weekend, then the games involving the top three clubs will be played simultaneously.

It was started to see how many people would be interested in staying in kilkenny after the game. There is no point in deciding this on the week of the game and not being able to book a decent b&b.
The game starts at 7.30, finishes around 9.20.Lets say a bus leaves for galway at 10, it arrives in Galway at 2. While this scenario might suit some people, i'd prefer a night out in Kilkenny and a few end of season beers.

Yeah, I'd definitely prefer a weekend in Kilkenny, as you say if we're getting a bus back it will be too late to go out celebrating in Galway! :D
Count me in for the B & B.

i know what your saying conor but it'd be a bit of annoying rushing home and only getting back to galway at one o clock and all the pubs would be nearly closed.

The price of the trip at the moment stands at E60, including transport
and accomodation.
If you want to go, give a deposit (E20) to Caroline Keady or Ronan Coleman
on Friday evening in Foxes or at Terryland. If you want further information, give
Ronan a call at (087) 6972823.

A group of approx 20 supporters are booked into accomodation in Vicar Street. This accomodation is full.
The following are other contacts in Kilkenny :
Rafter Dempseys (056) 7722970
Berkley House (056) 7764848
Troysgate (056) 7775999
Celtic House (056) 7762249
O'Malley Guesthouse (056) 7771003
Alternatively, check out www.kilkennytourism.ie.
GUST will be running a supporters bus to the game, departing Eyre Square at 1.00pm. We are leaving at an earlier time to allow supporters book into their accomodation. Regardless of where you are staying, the bus will bring the group from Kilkenny
city centre to Buckley Park and back again afterwards.
Some supporters will be heading back to Galway. The remainder will be collected at 1.00pm on Sunday. We need as many supporters as possible in Buckley Park, so I would ask you all to try and make the journey.
Come on United !
